This is a nice place. With some very, cute and unique items. With that being said my issue is with the customer service or lack there of when it came to me, a black customer. I entered the store a few seconds behind a couple, everyone speaks to them but not me and that was ok. However I hear them speak to everyone else who entered after me as well as them talking to customers as they walked around. I walked throughout the store looking at every booth , went back to some twice so I was there for a while . The employees were walking around, speaking, offering assistance and making small talk to ppl in very close proximity to me. They even offered a hand basket to a lady who was sharing one with her friend. However not one word was spoken to me. The best part of this experience was that you could hear them throughout the store from the register, enthusiastically telling everyone who brought something that they got a free gift ( a small plant) with every purchase and that they would be celebrating their 1 year anniversary soon, a lot of small talk with each customer. They talked about the plant and what you had to do to do learn about the plant. Then, I get to the counter and surprisingly the enthusiasm and small talk are non-existent when it came to me, as it has been the whole time I have been in the store. The cashiers back is to me but the other employee (the free gift lady) walks up and sees me and says nothing. She walks over and they stand there talking amongst themselves for a little while before finally turning around to me. The cashier spoke then right back to talking amongst themselves while ringing me up. I was told about the anniversary party but the other employee who has been so eagerly telling everyone about the free gift only says to me let me get you a bag and just stands there, saying nothing else. So as I get ready to pay I asked do I not get a free gift? she looked a little shocked and says "oh yeah" and walks to get it. I am paying for my items as she is handing the plant to me, the cashier tells me it didnt read my card and to tap it again. As soon as she heard her say that she quickly pulled the plant back as if i was trying to steal it from her. She did not hand it back to me until my receipt was printed. I was disappointed in my experience here today, which also happened to be my first time there. I am pretty sure I will not be returning as there is definitely a difference in how I was treated compared to the white customers who were in...
Read moreI love shopping here mainly because the store has some very nice items to choose from especially the handmade items like Nissa’s boutique but here are items like homemade Jams and chow chow and not to forget the nice seasonal plants to choose from as well. Sorry for those who may have had an unpleasant shopping experience , fortunately I did not, in fact I received my plant the day they were giving them out. I am a minority customer also and hope you will give them another try, or just ask for the manager and express your discomfort in the customer service you received. Have a...
Read moreI am so excited to have this new and beautiful business in Old Hickory. You can tell a lot of hard work and thought has been put in this vendor mall for the enjoyment of the shoppers and the success of the vendors. I for one plan to support it year round and tell everyone I know about this beautiful store. My first purchase from Serendipity was a beautiful embroidered tablecloth for Easter. So much to pick from. Thank you to Rachel, Jenny, and all the vendors for...
