Just had my first negative experience at a Costco, and probably one of my first negative reviews I've ever written. After a longer than normal wait at the cafe (nearly 25 minutes for a hot dog), I felt pretty bad for the cafe staff who was running around frantically and obviously stressed. I got my hot dog and on my way out stopped at the membership counter as I saw no line and two female employees just chatting. I was very kind and cordial and said "Excuse me, but just a heads up the cafe is running very behind and could use some extra help". With zero hesitation, one of them looked me dead in the eyes and said "We're hiring and you can come work in the kitchen if you think you can do a better job". I stated I was trying to be polite, she said "she was too" but then went on a rant about how they pay good, can't keep anyone on staff, and I can come work there if I want faster service. I was flabbergasted and walked out to my car.
A proper response could've simply been "Thanks for letting us know, we'll see if there's anyone who can go help out for a bit". I would've walked out and thought nothing more.
I called the store to speak to a manager who tried to come off nice but unfortunately seemed to honestly not care. Didn't ask for my name, didn't apologize for her words of choice other than saying he'd try to figure out who it was. Just felt like he read off a canned response with his feet up on his desk as he talked over me. At the end of the day, I'm a paying member. I understand being short staffed - but when there's a few employees standing around and a customer informs them their team members need help - do not raise your voice and tell the customer to apply themselves. Just wrong.
Such a saga over a dang hot dog. I just wanted to see the kitchen staff get some help from their team members who may have been available.
Props to the kitchen staff though, the hot dog was worth...

I believe the Kirkland bagels are actually made by Einstein Bagels, same as their Kirkland vodka, made by Grey Goose. Basically they partner with good brands to bring you good quality & affordably priced products. That said, still do your online research for bigger ticket items because sometimes their offerings (like electronics or furniture) may still be average price or maybe just a touch more. Keep in mind that some furniture and electronics are given different model #'s at different retailers so it becomes very difficult to price compare, and all stores do this intentionally, it seems. I've noticed this with TV's and mattresses. The store is clean and staff is friendly. They now have self-scan checkout lanes but also still have register employees at other lanes. They have an in-store optometrist as well as retail for buying prescription glasses, also an in-store pharmacist. Their tire center has very basic service, replacing tires. They don't patch tires or do much else, but they sell automobile batteries, too. If you're looking to work there--I noticed they have high turnover rate. There are a couple people who've stuck around, but there's something worth noting if the majority of employees don't find value in staying. As a shopper, though, it's a good place to shop. I have the credit card and everything, so we get decent cash back rewards and find we've gotten what we wanted and that membership is worth it. Oh, their gas station prices are good...

Went into this store to return two boxes of diapers with my newborn baby and my two year old son , with my hands full I asked the lady where I can return the diapers that were gifted to me as a baby shower gift she pointed me to the other side of the entrance where everybody was exiting from the store (being new to the store) I didn’t know where anything was so I was indeed following her instructions , once I attempted to return the gift and was denied exchange due to not having gift receipt (which the store also said i didn’t need for exchange when I called prior to coming to the store) I turned around and started to leave out the exit when I was abruptly stopped and profiled , the old lady at the door asked for my receipt I told her what I had was meant for an exchange and I didn’t have my receipt because the diapers were a gift from my baby shower weeks ago , she said I couldn’t leave without it I then point out the other woman at the door where everybody was coming into the store and asked her to confirm that I indeed come with the boxes in due to the fact that she was the one who instructed me to go into the other side to exchange (she was the first one I spoke with for instruction when I came in) and the lady shook her head no and acted as if she never seen me before so of course the other older white lady began to act as if I was a thief ! All while I had my newborn baby , my two year old son and two diaper boxes . I’ll never be returning again I’m very disappointed in the hospitality seems to me like only white people get properly...
