This is an incredible campus. My colleagues and I had developed a very in depth plan for a class project to give to our (sadly now passed away) teacher/advisor/mentor. Our teamwork created a really strong transportation system for elderly or low income people to get around at a low cost. My friend, Kirsten, she worked for WIC at the time and she spend a lot of time on this project. When my computer was stolen in 2017, I fear our work was compromised and our intellectual property rights were violated. After all, we developed all of this for Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey. I think it also hits a nerve for me because I know how far I commuted (TIME) and how much MONEY my parents spent on out of state tuition for me. I loved my life at Rutgers. When I graduated, I didn’t make the cut for the nutrition programs I applied to. So, I went for something my friend Gabby’s friend at the time said was an option — sport management. This was an opportunity to keep advancing my education. The only downside was that the dorming situation at Barry University was a disgrace. My roommate complained even to maintenance many times (advocating for us). She saw me struggling. I would tell her I was going to job interviews, but really I was going to doctors. The stress, anxiety, and illness was unbearable. I lost a ton of weight and ended up in a very bad place…due to people judging me based on appearance instead of listening to me. Moral of the story — New Jersey is a fabulous place for education.
