Hairbraids by Prime Precision — Local services in New York

I was charged $300 plus on the day of the appointment for regular medium box braids. Always ask for final pricing before arriving at any hair braiding salon or stylist. Keep in mind, I have purchased hair and went to another hair braiding salon and was charged less than $300 for medium box braids with full coverage. I went home and noticed my hair was completely uneven in length. I had no idea after it was done. It was embarrassing walking around in public with the back of my hair being uneven. The worst part of all this is when i listened to her telling another customer in front of my face that she didn't know I was arriving. How do you accuse a new customer of randomly showing the day of when there are text messages proving an appointment was booked a week in advance. Lastly, I wanted a certain look for my vacation and I felt she could have at least attempted to mix in the hair that I spent money on. It's almost as if the $300 included the additional cost of the hair that she used to put in my head.

Response to Owner: Owner expects all customers to pay deposits for hair braiding appointments before they make a trip to get their hair done via Zelle. Expects to receive money before even completing a full service. I asked this braider, who braids hair in her converted garage/house extension, for large knotless braids - I got jumbo, even though I showed a pic of the style I wanted. The single ones were parted too big! I asked for a side path - it looks like a plane can land on the path; because left and right sides are far apart. The braids can be large but the boxes in the head don’t have to be.

Good braiders use a circular fashion to path the hair - from ear to ear so it looks continuous and not spacious! Scalp is so spacious as if you can ride a bicycle thru it.

I ask for her not to use her gel. She continued to use it in my hair - I broke out in hives a day after! I had to take them out 3 days after. Waste of time and money!
