CUSTOMER BE AWARE - 2 weeks ago, my husband and I visited this restaurant for the first time based on some of the other reviews. To be quite honest, the food was good and tasty. So my sister and I visited the next week, as I was excited to show off our 'newly found Jamaican Spot', so we went and purchased about 5 different meals for the family. Unbeknown to us, the food was cooked with peanut oil or cooked with peanuts for flavoring. My husband is ALLERGIC to NUTS!!! And so, he immediately had the worse case of allergic reaction and we had to call the ambulance and rush him to the hospital. He was in the emergency unit for quite sometime. He was already changing color, lips swollen, tongue swollen, distorted speech, hot body, scratching all over his body, hives already pumped up high on his body - not leaving out how scared and frantic we all were!!! I later called the restaurant and asked to speak with the manager to ask them if they did cook with or marinated with peanuts and if so, why don't they have a 'Nuts Disclaimer' in their restaurant? The person that answered the phone 'D' said that he was the manager, but as I started to tell him of our 'grave' matter, he asked me to hold on to speak with the manager 'A'. So after holding for about 4 minutes on the phone he came back on the phone and continued from where he had left of, forgetting that he had asked me to hold on to speak with manager 'A'. He apologized for what had happened (not refuting the fact that peanuts or peanut oil was used to cook the food) and wished my husband well. Though it was an unfortunate situation, it should be stated in their restaurant that NUTS are in their menu for the people who are allergic to nuts. THIS IS A...
Read moreMy adult kids and I have been going here for quite some time. However,we stopped going over a year ago because of the horrible customer service. At that time, I reached out and called the owner. I won't reveal her name. She said she would speak with her employees. We continued going, it stopped soon thereafter. The customer service hadn't gotten any better. Forward to 2022. We began going again. The food here is never the problem. Once again,my complaint is the horrible customer service. The man with the glasses and freckles is always so sweet. There is a short dark skinned, older woman, heavy set who is nasty. I was there the other day to get my usual meal. Large Salmon w/salad and rice n peas. I normally am charged $21.78. This day,I was charged $23 and some change. When I asked the cashier why?she called over the dark skinned woman. She said in a nasty tone " that is the price when you get salad.". I told her I have been getting this meal several times per week, and it was never that price. She stated that salad doesn't come with the meal. I told her no one ever said that. The cashier didn't have on a name tag. She also was nasty. I still purchased the food. I went back today, got the same meal and it was $21.78. The other day my son went and the meal was $21.78. The day prior, the same meal was $23.78. So what is it going to be? They need training. My family spends decent money in this place. We go 3-5 times per week. Each at $65 a pop. Then they want to barely give you any salad. When you ask for a decent amount, the response "we'll get in trouble." I am about to take my money elsewhere. Horrible customer service. It's...
Read moreSo to be transparent, I went there at night like after 8pm. I was looking for a beef patty but all was gone.. so I settled for a coco bread ( ended up getting 4 after the first bite).. but when I tell you that that was THE BEST melt in your mouth warm to the touch soft like heaven coco bread ever! No patty needed.. it was in a class all by it self.. then the guy was sooo lovely..Service and hospitality executed with warmth and pried of the islands he hails from.. I mean he made my night..so much that I gave in to my temptation to all the goodies presented in the show case and got a slice of their pineapple cake...that was another trip to paradise when me and my partner had it later on. The frosting was fluffy not to sweet and just delightful. When you get to the cake.. I felt like I was back in my form 2 (8th grade) HomeEcc class and was sampling a well done butter cake crusted but not burnt and not oily either. The pineapple was not only present in flavor but texture as well in the filling from the first bite and the the last crumb. So for me this place even tho I only had two items off the many well presented options from the Bakery and Restaurant.. it was more than enough to continue to patronize but also Highly recommend. GO! visit them, and find your treasure...
