KABINET KING — Local services in New York

I also posted this review on Yelp. I don't understand for the life of me why this place has so many positive reviews on Google.

It didn’t take long for us to regret our decision to work with Kabinet King for our kitchen renovation, but unfortunately, by that point a deposit was made there was no going back. We went to Kabinet King with inaccurate measurements we had taken ourselves of our kitchen. The rep we met with told us not to worry, we could do a rough draft of the kitchen and if we put a deposit down someone from their company would come and do accurate measurements. We really liked what he made up, so we put the deposit down and scheduled a time for them to come measure. All that went fine, until we went to meet with the rep again after the measurements and he told us that he already put in the order (WITHOUT THE ACCURATE MESAUREMENTS).

We told them this was unacceptable and met with another rep who agreed to work with us. This rep called the company to stop the order, and make the changes. The cabinets are delivered a few weeks later, and although they are fine, there are a bunch of little measurement things that don’t line up. They weren’t very serious, so we decided not to make a big deal out of it.

We also ordered a quartz countertop through them that would be fulfilled by Countertop Designs in Bay Shore, NY. Our order consisted of countertops for the kitchen and then two additional ledges for the bathroom. They came to measure the countertops and forgot to measure the bathroom, which was not a big deal, our contractor did it and sent the measurements. The representative at Kabinet King assured us that everything would come together and on time.

Fast forward however long it takes them to make the countertops and they forget to bring the two ledges for the bathroom. This would not be a big deal, except that our construction project was about to be done and we were going to be charged by our coop for going over time. We called Kabinet King and the representative we were working with apologized and said he would get to the bottom of it. WEEKS passed, and we still did not have the ledges. It was the holidays, so we understood, but then the rep from Kabinet King stopped returning our calls and there were no updates on the ledges.

When I finally tracked the rep down in person he said that he didn’t know why Countertop Designs didn’t deliver the ledges, and that they were refusing to deliver them so he was going to pick them up himself (although contractually they were supposed to deliver them). I told him not to bother, and had him call them so I could pick them up myself (an hour away) just to be done with this place and with Kabinet King (they were reaaaaallll quick to throw Countertop Designs under the bus).

I see that other people have had similarly terrible experiences with them, so it’s definitely not us overreacting. I would NOT use them. I know it’s hard to do construction and thy have a lot of reviews, but I would recommend going ANYWHERE else for your cabinets.

UPDATE 01/14/2020: I don't think I can post a response to their response on here, but they said they're sending a gift. Kabinet King, if you read this, please keep your gift! We are still trying to get rid of the extra GIANT cabinet (and all extra shelves) Waypoint sent us by accident that you said you would help us deal with and then never did (because you stopped responding to our calls, and I had to take a day off of work to come to the location to actually get you to tell me where our ledges were and how to get them). We recently spent 2 weeks looking for kitchen cabinets on various internet websites. We were a little apprehensive, never having bought cabinets on the internet, but after looking around locally we were disappointed with the selection and the quality of the cabinets available.

We discovered there are dozens of different cabinet websites and the experience of navigating each one was somewhat overwhelming. Each website was structured differently and jumping back and forth between the various cabinet selection pages became a real ordeal. I finally had to set up my own spreadsheet to keep up with the website names, the cabinet names, the types and dimensions of cabinets needed, and the total cost from each website.

After narrowing our options, we discovered Kabinet King. At first I was disappointed that the cabinets we were interested in were special order and not searchable on their website. However, that turned out to be a blessing in disguise. It resulted in me reaching out to Sabrina in Internet Sales. From that point forward the experience was very easy, much easier than the other websites. Sabrina suggested I send her an e-mail with a list of the cabinets I needed. That was easy, because I already had that information on my spreadsheet. Sabrina was very responsive as questions arose and she even found a perfect microwave cabinet for us that wasn’t offered by the other sites. Her knowledge is exceptional and her customer focus is among the best I’ve experienced. Turn around times were very quick and the final purchase paperwork was a breeze thanks to Sabrina.

I also want to give special thanks to Jessica, their Customer Service Manager. She went out of her way to e-mail me a copy of our paid invoice just minutes after I spoke to her. And she was right on time with the freight tracking number, so on short notice we were able to schedule our son to help unload the cabinets when the truck arrived.

There was one issue with a wrong cabinet being sent by the 3rd party supplier but Troy, who happened to answer the Kabinet King phone that day, told me immediately what I needed to do to fix the problem. That shows that all the staff at Kabinet King are very knowledgeable and exhibit excellence in customer service, even when they’re not specifically assigned to your order.

Sabrina solved the wrong cabinet problem the very next day, and within 24 hours the correct cabinet was on its way. The correct cabinet arrived by UPS less than 3 business days after I first identified the problem to Sabrina. Kabinet King even allowed us to keep the wrong cabinet at no additional cost. You can’t ask for more than that.

And the cabinets themselves are very good quality, particularly for their price. Kabinet King’s price was hundreds of dollars less than other websites and the design, materials, and construction was also better than the others. We are very happy with our purchase. I decided to gut my entire kitchen and tear down a number or walls because I wanted a modern and open floor plan for my home in Queens. I heard of Kabinet King, so I decided to give them a try. They have some of the latest cabinet styles on the market along with an enormous selection of marble, and quartz counter tops, kitchen hardware, backsplahes etc. This makes their store a one stop shop for every and any thing you need for your kitchen. The overall service at Kabinet King surpassed my expectations. While their entire team is superb and you will come out with a winning kitchen no matter who you work with, I was blessed to work closely with Troy and by the pics of my kitchen below, I felt like a CHAMPION!! Troy was well versed in his craft and extremely professional. Troy, not only made sure that the design of my kitchen was exactly what I wanted, but he was also able to offer a number of great ideas to my design that I never knew was possible; like adding a downdraft system to my cooktop range versus a hood was an option that opted I for, any boy it is surely a show stopper!!! My overall experience with Kabinet King was superb and by far one of the most pleasurable experiences I've have with any company-to-date! Wil, Greg and Robin also were there at a drop of a dime if i ever needed any design advice etc. BUT..... What I loved most about the experience was the attention to detail and the seamless relationships that Kabinet King has with other companies and contractors that made the project from design to installation simply "spectacular". Thank you PARAMOUNT PIPING for your exquisite gift of gutting my old kitchen and installing my new kitchen. I'm speechless and blown away. You and Kabinet King are a match made in heaven! You possess a business synergy like no other! Tony and Ray - you guys ROCK!!!!!! Thank you Kabinet King and your entire staff and vendors for such a wonderful experience and beautiful kitchen and an extra special thanks to Troy for all of his hard work and divine talents designing this materpiece. I AM SO IN LOVE WITH MY KITCHEN!
