Before Covid, I spent hundreds of hours applying for discretionary funding from my Councilmember for my nonprofit organization providing food, clothing, socks, and toiletries to those in need. I was supposed to be issued the minimum amount in discretionary for nonprofits of $5,000 in June of 2020.
The Councilmember referred me to the Maspeth Town Hall to help me get through the incredibly difficult process of applying for government funding. The Maspeth Town Hall did not help at me at all. They were incredibly rude, disrespectful, hard to work with, and didn't seem to want to do any work during the entire process.
I read the emails to others in my circle and they all agreed that my emails were friendly and professional. Everything bad they were doing to me they gaslighted me and claimed that I was doing. I think they really just want to receive funding and do nothing for it.
Unfortunately, this is one of many corrupt nonprofits who receive substantial funding and help no one, or very few.
During Covid, with no funding grants, I believe my organization provided more goods and services than any other throughout NYC. I raised maybe 100,000 toiletries, socks, and clothing items and provided almost a million meals during the worst of Covid. I never did receive the $5,000 in funding from my Councilmember, which the Maspeth Town Hall was assigned to help me accomplish.
I've had to do a lot of work on myself to find the courage to share my experience on this review. My organization will continue to help millions of people. My organization will continue to expand throughout NYC, New York, America, and eventually around the world. I do hope I will eventually receive funding for the exorbitant amount of work I'm doing, and I will continue to help people even if I never do.
I believe this proves my sincerity and my integrity. I will also use my voice to stand up against people and organizations like this one are misusing their funding, mistreating people, and abusing their power. Everyone I have spoken with only has had negative experiences with the Maspeth Town Hall.
Corrupt organizations should be fixed and worked on to improve, or shut down. Corrupt people should be fired. And good organizations should receive support. I'm fighting for a better world in every way I can. And one way I'm doing that is in finding the courage to use my voice to stand up against corruption from organizations like the Maspeth Town Hall.
I invite anyone reading this who has experienced corruption from this organization, or any other, to do what you can to get the truth out there. This is the hope and power good people have to invoke...
