The Metro Mall in Middle Village cross Ridgewood was an excellent place visiting since childhood with its ramp imagining it's a roller coaster going down.
I used to go grocery shopping with my grandparents at BJ's there when they were taking care of me and my sister for the day while my mom was at work and my dad sleeping at home, especially in the summer months.
For the interior, I went to Funland U.S.A. for my childhood best friend Benjamin Diamond's birthday party and we had tons of fun.
Up of the deck, we used to go to Toys 'R' US whenever it's a want or a reward for good grades.
Overall, Metro Mall is an incredible shopping convenience for groceries and etc.
(P.S. - It's perfect while running an errand when your sister is a Middle Village Preparatory student waiting for pickup.)
But today unfortunately, it's dying due to e-commerce, online shopping, and curbside pickup.
It needs to be revitalized now more than ever because if we fail to act now, we'll lose the shopping center forever.
If you're an original shopper and fan of this shopping center since childhood like me, come support the business that is the glue that holds the Middle Village-Ridgewood section of Central Queens together...
Read moreMetro mall has been my hangout since I was born. I don't kid when I say that either. It's a huge HUGE mall having a BJs Wholesale (one of the bigger ones) in the back, a funtopia (used to be Chuck E Cheese) in the back, and a Toys R Us (to rival 42nd Streets old Toys R Us) in the front alongside the last profitable K Mart. It has concession upstates just in case you get hungry (Nathan's) and it still has the old security guard from when I was a child who still yells at you when you try to bring your kid down the escalator with a stroller. The Toys-R-Us here is the best and again I have been going here since I was born. I don't kid either. It's a bit dated the overall mall front and top (you can't even see out the windows, the parking lines are all but non existent, and the escalator for the carts is always broken. That said the back side of the mall is much nicer and begs the question that if they can update the back why not the upstairs and front. Regardless again this is the best toys r us in mall and the BJs is great as well. It's a worth while trip...
Read moreOvercrowded with people from everywhere!! Lines are always very slow moving, too many shoppers come from ridgewood, elmhurst, sunnyside, woodhaven, & Brooklyn so people from middle village, Glendale, or maspeth can't even go there anymore. Not to mention all signs & audio announcements made for Kmart shoppers there are always in Spanish. And sometimes the credit card machines are only written in Spanish too. This store is horrible in every aspect. Incidentally I'd like to add, if every store in Chinatown in Flushing was made to change all their signs from Chinese to English, to make it fair for every nationality to shop there, then why isn't the same applying for this Kmart? And BJ'S, has been awful ever since they accept ebt cards. People coming from everywhere every town and the lines to purchase something even on the 10 items or less are slow. That whole Metro Mall is a nightmare and if you want to avoid spending half your day standing on lines, don't go there. Sorry for the bad review but...
