Benninger Playground — Attraction in New York

Meh. The climbing areas and slides are actually very nice, but wow the park is tragically under developed.

There's plenty of benches for parents but the sprinklers don't ever seem to work.

There's NO bathroom to speak of.

The surface is bumpy and pocked so your little ones are guaranteed to trip and fall on the asphalt.

I use this as an after school pit stop for water balloon cool off time. And I take my own water balloon pump with water and give the balloons to the other kids because, heck, they're all suffering from the heat too. And since there's no water in the sprinklers, and grandpa can't walk that far, let them use the drinking fountains to fill their water bombs and cool off a bit.

This is the last park i would take my kids if i would have other choices.. park is super dirty all the time and i know ppl makes it dirty but no one comes to clean it.. the garbage are always full of dirt and smell horrible.. there is never a patrol to control who comes at that park.. older kids with bikes are becoming a danger for the younger kids.. i have complained a few times at 311 but it seems no one cares.. you see and smell weed while babies and small kids play there.. the playground needs some reconstruction. The homeless should not be there sleeping or drinking.. and so many more things going on that park that i keep writing.. i hate...

Old creepy men & belligerent drunks are constantly disturbing the children’s play… I would have no problem w/ the loitering if it weren’t a place for children. How are you so far gone that you think it’s okay to post up at a children’s playground??? The parks department will come and shoo away sleeping drunken men but they seem to not be able to put a stop to it because every time I take my child the police are called for one reason or another.

The other day a belligerent man was yelling at a group of elderly women and throwing water at them… it’s a terrible example for the youth makes me...
