I have been doing ancestry since 2006 and in late 2016 my dad gave me a billfold then I found some paperwork and finally being able to locate my great great grandmother and this is the cemetery she’s buried in. Sad part is I went in on Veterans Day 2023 and the office was closed so no one was able to help me. I was able to ask someone on the grounds if he worked there and he did not, but he gave me a map and gave me directions to the section I needed to be. I was able to locate my ancestors after one hour of looking for them because the sections are not marked with anything. If you don’t know you just don’t know because I’ve never been there in the end. I was very happy to be able to locate them. 400 acres of if you know where to go, you know where to go.

One of the most beautiful and well-kept cemeteries I've ever stepped foot in. A number of famous people rest here for eternity, including Miles Davis (who has the largest headstone I've ever seen), Dorothy Parker, Herman Melville, Irving Berlin, and Bat Masterson. We walked through and found everyone we wanted to see to pay our respects. People do need to slow down driving through here as it is a place of reverence. We literally saw a car going too fast, hit either a pylon or gravestone, back out quickly, and kept driving. Be sensible! These are peoples' loved ones!

While everyone spends a ton not all family has a place to sit near their loved one, just stand around like a fool. restrictions noted on bottom.. My mother said years ago their are benches as that was a main reason for purchase at her location. Also she chose garden area and she was so happy about all the light in the spot she chose and flower bushes. But there is no light. No flowers or bushes at all nearby , they said spring and summer, said March was too soon but i went in summer and.there was nothing!!! .. Two smaller crypts placed right in front of her and others less personal spaces are the reason for a TOTAL lack of light. Very inconsiderate placement. but im sure they made lots of money on that sale. They are right in front of the entrance to the mosoleum blocking light for all the crypts behind them.. She and all who rest there and their visiting family are in darkness ALL the time despite the time of day. This was sooo important to my mother i cant even express that enough. If it were lacking sun when she visited she would not have chosen that area. She went more than once and was an experienced city gardener. If im not mistaken there were benches already when she purchased, she specifically mentioned seating area for us to have coffee right by her and inside, but nothing near her now , i think removed because it isn't as my mother and other family described. I asked about the vase for flowers which must be artificial and they want $1,045 for that. But wait you have no choice in what you buy. Its one option and there is no other "approved" way to leave anything for your loved one if they are in a mosoleum. Visiting hours are terrible ..4:30 close is ridiculous. If you don't live nearby oh well to you.. if my mom would have known she would have taken a ground plot. At least i could have left fresh flowers and sat on the ground by her. We literally just stand and stare at her crypt in darkness. Ill spend the money for her vase, they mentioned a contract am assuming for payment plan..i have no choice literally no choice. !i actually don't like the one they offer, its nothing special. I really don't.i would prefer to choose something in my.mothers taste and in a less rip off price range. Im so angry and im visiting for 1 year anniversary of her passing and we have to bring fold out chairs if we want to spend a good while her. Especially after rushing in the morning to be there before closing after a 2 hour drive. Just ridiculous. May seem silly but it isn't what you expect after all the money and planning my mom did to make sure these few wishes...

The cemetery is huge so I don’t know my way around it. On my last visit a very courteous worker drove me to my loved one’s plot, waited for me, and then drove me back to the entrance. He was so personable and kind that I was upset I didn’t have cash on hand to tip him. For this visit, I made sure to bring cash even though I was not sure if the workers were allowed to accept tips. The driver picked me and my sister up from in front of the visitor’s center. He gave a gruff hi. This should have been my first clue that things would go wrong. Areas in the cemetery have names so I told the driver that we were going to the Iris area and he said, “well I’ll go there and you tell me where to stop.” I explained that we had only visited twice before so we were not sure exactly where the grave was. The driver continued to drive and then he announced, “well I just drove past Iris and you didn’t say stop so I guess you don’t know where you’re going. “ Sensing his agitation, I said, “you can let us out here and we’ll look for it.” He began making very rude comments one after the other. I was so shocked. I said, “sir don’t be rude” and he said, “well, I know where my loved ones are buried.” At that point I told him that he needed to stop speaking and he told me I needed to learn how to take a joke. While my sister and I were at the grave laying flowers, the driver drove off without saying a word to us. We had to walk all the way back to the visiting center which took about 20 minutes After ten minutes of walking, the driver passed us on the road and had the nerve to ask if we needed a ride back! Of course we said no. When we arrived back at the visiting center, we filed a complaint but weren’t able to give the driver’s name. The workers in the office were very apologetic and understanding and we appreciated that. Upon exiting the visitor’s center we asked the security guard posted outside if he knew the name of the driver that picked us up and he said Willy. Well Willy, you need training on how to work in a field that deals with humans who are grieving and have lost loved ones. You’re poor attitude and disrespect was uncalled for and you should be reprimanded. I have a feeling that if we were men, you would have interacted with us differently but that shouldn’t ever matter. If you can’t be kind, all you really need to do is shut...

Beautiful place for a final rest but I will not be recommending anone there anymore due to the last services for purchasing more than one resting place. After careful thought, I had to make this review especially after speaking to the supervisor Robert regarding his employee Mary Lou remarks and inappropriate niches puchase handling . I waited patiently as Robert the supervisor promised he would call me back so we all can be on the same pageat no time till today Robert reponded back to me as I also requested. THIS showed me a lack of total unconcern supervisior skills and unprofessionalism. The report on Mary Lou concerns regarding her negative remarks and the handling of purchases example wrong prices/ more burials sites availablilty needed to address was handle very misleading unprofessional and specially bias. My concerns was not seriously taken when it was important to only purchasing a final resting final place for three families members. Thank God they were not deceased this would of been more of a disaster. This is not my first time purchasing any final resting place. Anytime a customer addresses important matters/ info about the handling of purchasing a final resting place it should be taken into consideration feedback andhandled fairly. Im so glad because of this there is a rate and review to do it. Dissatisfied. HOPE THIS WILL BE HELPFUL TO WOODLAWN CEMEMTERY TO IMPROVE YOUR SERVICES FOR ALL YOUR CUSTOMER. GBLESS YOU ALL. Also please take your rate and...
