Dollar General — Local services in Newport

Dollar Generals keep popping up all over the place yet I thought their employees are rude when you ask a question. And I used to go all the time at least 3 times a week but now I have officailly boycotted them. Their digital coupons never work, when you ask an employee about it they say it must be your phone... well it's not. I have given them multiple chances and this last week was the straw that broke the camels back. To start off two employees were smoking out front, it may have been for their break but when I went inside no one else was in there and store is all kinds of beat and battered. Then I got a coupon that was 5 dollars off of 20 dollars or more of school supplies. And I had what I thought was over 25 dollars worth plus another 40 dollars worth of items. I go to the register and I ask if my 5 dollar coupon came off along with my 1 dollar off crest tooth paste. The cashier said I dont know you can check at home. She was busy so I let that go. I get home and the 6 dollars that should have been taken off wasn't. So the next day I go back to the DG in town and I show the manager and she added up $19.24 for the 5 dollar off 20 school supply and I counted over 20 bucks, she said rubberband didn't count as school supplies, the elmers stick glue 5 pack did not count as school glue even though it is written on the package, she said it's only liguid glue. I could not believe she this just happened after I just spent 67 dollars there. She said it's not me it's company policy, repeatedly. I said how is school glue different whether it's regular liguid glue or stick it's glue. She said there was nothing she could do it's "company policy". I said okay well can you explain why the dollar didn't come off the crest toothpaste when I didn't buy any of the fine print exclusions, she said not sure but I can do this one for you? What do this for me like it was a favor? WTH. I took my dollar back and left and decided I was going to return everything I bought the day before that wasn't already opened, so I did. Over 5 dollars I returned over 24 dollars worth of items. Inconceivable !!!! This company is bad news with bad news employees. I cannot express my distate in the way things were handled. I will pay 40 cents more at the weis market in town than deal with DG again. I work outside of the small town I live in and can go anywhere outside like walmart, target, etc. And will now do so after this experience and I am glad I am not alone after reading the...

Worst dollar general i have ever been too. The employees are lazy, rude, and have VERY poor hygiene, anytime you even ask them a question about a product,they act like you are asking them to give you one of their kidneys. The store is always filthy and smells like body odor, and they are so lazy they can't even stay open the times they're supposed too. i have to drive 25 minutes one way, i got there at 8:42 and i seen the lady locking the door as i was walking to it and i seen her clearly looking right at me, she locked the door and walked away.
