The service at Newport Family Restaurant is top notch. Fast, efficient and friendly. The food I received was totally unrecognizable as the chicken croquettes with homemade filling and gravy. The croquettes seemed to be just fried balls of dough. Absolutely no chicymeat was discernable - not even ground chicken. The homemade stuffing was a flat fried piece of bread with some herb and vegetable flakes over it. Even Stove Top is 100 percent better. The gravy was tasty but obviouzly from a jar/can. Seafood chowder was very thick almost like pudding but was flavorful. When the waitress ask how our food was our reply was "barely eatable". She said they never had any complaints. Saw this Diner when doing a job this past winter at Dollar General and wanted to try it the next time in town. Stopped in this week with family when passing through the area. Best waitress i have had in a long time. Owner came around and asked how are meals were its been over a decade since I have been in a restaurant that did that. So service best maybe ever in that aspect for me. Prices and food were typical of a Diner in Pennsylvania. Negative points I asked for no tomato on my wrap and it had it on it. Also the menu said our son got ice cream with his kids meal and they said he did not when we asked for it. I would cross it off menu if thats the case. Next time in town we will be eating here again. We were visiting from out of town, and my family was having a difficult time deciding on a meal due to the vast options available on the menu, which included breakfast all day. Each of us had at least four different meals in mind. Fortunately, regardless of our choices, the meals were not disappointing. From a Texas burger to a chicken stir fry, the portions were generous and the food was delicious 😋.
