Awful experience when cancelling.....In today's world, having to fill out a cancellation form and then going to the post office to mail is unacceptable.....You cannot cancel online. It's either go in person or mail....While on the phone, I was handed over to the Operations Manager, Desiree...She loves to flaunt that she the operations manager, yet when an employee told her I was waiting to speak to her (pre arranged via telephone that I was to come in and speak to her), she did not take the time to come to the counter to greet me. She KNEW I was waiting. She was behind the counter 5 feet away from me and could not pause what she was doing (she was on the phone and then hung up, working in the computer) so the employee who initially greeted me completed the transaction. The point is that having to go in person to cancel was not a good experience for me and management knowing I was not happy with their cancellation process should have spoken to me.....She hid and let the employee deal with it herself.....You call your bank, stock brokerage house...etc they clear you with mother's maiden name, BD...etc then talk about anything you want...Million dollar accounts at these institutions and it's ok to verify a customer over the phone, yet for some petty gym membership they give you a hard time....To top it off, the workers there agreed with me that the procedure to cancel at LA Fitness is not right......(Read below and you will find more complaints about the cancellation process and the manager at...
Read moreI would give ZERO stars if I could. Went in tonight after my husband got me a guest pass online. They told me I was REQUIRED to take a “health and safety tour” and let them measure my body fat percentage. I use a gym 5 days a week at Planet Fitness and wanted to try out LA fitness to see if I liked it better. I asked how long the tour would take and they said 30 mins. I told them I didn’t want to take a tour as I already know how to use a gym and can’t I just skip it and they refused. They said if I sign up for a pass immediately or pay $15 for a day pass then I wouldn’t have to do a tour. SERIOUSLY?? So, if I give them money then it’s fine to skip the safety tour but if I want to try out the gym for 14 days then I have to waste 30 minutes of my time?? Absolutely ridiculous. So he went and asked his manager and came back with, “My Manager said then you have to pay the $15 day pass.” So then we asked if we sign up for a pass can we get the $0 down that is offered online and he said no you have to go online and do it. I MEAN COME ON WHERE IS YOUR CUSTOMER SERVICE??? My husband pays $90 a month for 3 passes at this gym and I couldn’t even skip a 30 minute tour and use a guest pass?? They let us all walk out of that gym completely upset. I hope they are happy to lose a customer because I will never step foot in that gym again. We are writing as members of your Norco location to formally report an incident that caused us to cancel our memberships.
During a recent visit, we brought a family member to try out the facility using a 3-day guest pass. Our guest politely declined the mandatory tour and requested that we show them around instead, as they were not comfortable with the manager conducting it. Despite this clear and reasonable request, the manager insisted that he personally give the tour, disregarding boundaries and making our guest feel extremely uncomfortable. This caused us to leave immediately.
Following this, we attempted to cancel our memberships. However, management at the Norco location repeatedly failed to answer the phone, making the process unnecessarily frustrating and unprofessional.
This experience has left us with the impression that the Norco location is poorly managed and lacks respect for both guests and members. The combination of the manager's behavior and the inaccessibility of the management team directly caused the loss of our business and has damaged our opinion of the LA Fitness brand.
