Montgomery County Assistance Office — Local services in Norristown

Had to call the state legislatures office to get anywhere with them. I moved and was told I couldn’t change my address until I was actually in my new house. Called this office when I moved and spoke to someone telling me that the documents I sent where there but they will “get to them when they get to them”. I was spoken down to and told that they didn’t really care how desperate I was and that again they will get to my case “whenever they get to them”. So, I called a few days later to try and get an update and was told again “we’ll get to them when we get to them”. She then asked if I had anymore questions and when I was in the middle of asking my question I was interrupted and told “ok, well if you have no more questions then have a nice day” and hung up on me. That’s when I called my state legislature’s office. Got a call back the next day, talked to a woman that explained everything in detail and told me exactly what I needed to send in. I called the public assistance back a week and a half later and was told that I needed to send in documents that I already sent to them. I told her that was all done a week and a half ago. Was then told everything was there but again no one processed anything. Good thing I called or I would have lost everything I had with them. Let me put it plainly. They don’t care about you. They don’t care about helping you. All they care about is making a quota with how many people they talk to. Unless you keep calling them they won’t even open what you send them. Absolutely awful. It’s shamefully having to ask for help but this is how you’re treated when you do ask for the help you need. They don’t care if you have kids or what situation you’re in. They...

I had mr brown who is rude and ignorant. The way he talked to me in front of my 1 yearold son was uncalled for. The dehumanizing effect he had towards me was horrible. They're social workers, theyre to help. Im a single parent and i just need help with daycare And thats it. Once i can get my son in there i can work fulltime and wont need these ppl anymore. The 2nd trip agian to mr Brown, which he was still dehumanizing me again in front of my son, i asked for a supervisor and he told me he was the supervisor, seems like everyone who works here is a supervisor. But i had enough of being talked down to especially in front of my son. So i collected my paperwork amd mr brown wripped the child support paper out of my hand in front of my son and said that was his paper which it wasnt bc i filed for child support against my sons mother. Regardless i should of never been treated the way i was and my son to. If you have any problems email Gov.Tom Wolf and goto to your local towns mayor or goto mayor goddshall in hatfield PA. They will help you bc they're not doing there job. Most of them dont wanna help the ppl that really do need it. There are some good workers in here and that care and then theres ones that dont care and juat make fun of you and dehumanize bc of your situation your in, its sad. The way Mrs. MCCALLION talks to people is absolutely disgusting and deplorable. I called her a week ago about my reconsideration that took her over two months to do. SHE listed me and my income twice resulting in a benefit rejection . I called her to see what was going on with my case because I hadn’t heard anything back in weeks . She obviously is too overwhelmed by her job and takes it out on the very clients that she is suppose to service . She told me the reason for her hostility towards me was because “you people are always calling asking where your benefits are sometimes I don’t even answer the phone “ I asked her what that had to do with me calling about my benefits and she became irate. I can’t believe this lady works in HUMAN SERVICES. These people will give you the RUN AROUND for the absolute BARE MINIMUM they tried to give me 55$ per month for me AND my son . Then when I asked why I would be receiving so little . Mrs. Mccallion got frustrated and said “ you make more than enough you should be able to provide for you and your son .” I spoke with her supervisor who wasn’t really much help but they raised the benefit to 150 which is better than nothing.
