This review is for non-locals. Any locals shouldn’t need a review for Corropolese or shame on you. ;)

Growing up in the suburbs of Philadelphia, eating Corropolese tomato pie was as normal as eating Wawa “hoagies” and Rita’s “wooder” ice. Since moving down to the DMV area, one of the only things I miss about my hometown is the tomato pie especially since Corropolese is the best, hands down. The OG spot that I grew up with is in Norristown on Old Arch Road although they’ve opened up a few newer locations over the years to accommodate their growth. They have good bread and other baked treats like cakes, pastries, and cookies. And their hot/cold sandwiches, made with their amazing sandwich rolls, definitely hit the spot (slow-cooked Italian shredded pork is so good). The market also sells other Italian goods like dried pasta and antipasti. But the highlight is definitely the tomato pie. Now I’ve found it to be very challenging to try to describe tomato pie to someone who is not familiar with it, their response is usually “so it’s just cold pizza with no cheese,” but the locals all know that’s just blasphemy. Having been to Italy recently, I can say it resembles the Sicilian-style pizza (sfincione). The pie is rectangular with focaccia-like dough and it’s covered in thick layer of tomato sauce that is robust but has a hint of sweetness then sprinkled with grated cheese (and they have stenciling available for holidays/special occasions & logos (Philly sports, local colleges/high schools) for that extra flair. Purists may say tomato pie shouldn’t have any toppings but those people need to evolve & embrace because as much as I love a good cheese pizza, toppings can definitely elevate a good pie. One of my favorites is the Supreme (cheese, sweet peppers & pepperoni) but website says it’s only available on Sundays. So if you’re in the area visiting friends or family, forget about cheesesteaks and grab a sheet of tomato pie (or go for the 1/4 pies and...

Tomato Pie really is not my thing. That being said, Corropolese does the best job at wanting me to like them. And for under $20 for a full pie, they aren't a bad deal either.

While I've had their pies on numerous occasions, my first visit to this location was over the holidays. In the days leading up to Christmas, they don't even answer the phone! They leave a message outlining what you want to do if you want a pie for your gathering. We arrived early, as recommended by their message, and had no issue snagging one. However, given how they setup the parking lot, I suspect that might not have been the case for late arrivers.

Outside holidays (and maybe the Super Bowl), I imagine they are a low-key place to visit. They have everything else you'd expect from a deli and very friendly staff to help you out. I'll continue to occasionally enjoy a piece of tomato pie and say you'd do well to give...

I’ve been going here for years. At the end of May I called and prepaid for a tomato pie. My card was charged. A family member went to pick up and they denied that I had called and prepaid, even though it was on my card and I could see I was charged. My family member paid again. So I basically paid $35 for a tomato pie because the girl who took my money didn’t put it “in the book” they use to record orders. Because she didn’t do that they forced us to pay again. I wouldn’t try to order over the phone if you don’t want this hassle.

ETA: I stand by my original post. It’s good for people to know this can happen. However, I did get my refund and the process was super easy. The food here is good and the people are good. Being aware of hiccups that happen over the phone is just part of the process these days. It seems like, should you too run into this hiccup, Corropolese will...

Love love love everything about Corropolese. Tomato pie the best, rolls and all. I even started getting my cold cuts there. Everyone is so very nice. However there's a lady behind the lunchmeat counter who wants to do everything hyper speed and she really can be intimidating. I felt so bad for an older customer. Some people you really need to slow down for. You can't tell her anything. She knows it all, even how to slice YOUR cold cuts. Wrong....I'm sure you know who she is, but she can be too much. Other than her. It's the go to spot! Pictured. Left side How my cheese was sliced and placed in the wrapping. Right side how I stacked it so it wouldn't continue to break. REVISED review 11/11 This is ridiculous!! SAME PERSON SLICING. I'M Fuming. She's too fast and she doesn't realize how frustrating it is to have broken cheese on your sandwich. What is so hard about being neat?

I've been to over 40 different locations for Cheesesteaks including the big names....but Corropolese is ranked #1 so far. Their Cheesesteaks are THAT good! But I have to say, today, I was a bit disappointed. Their cheesesteaks are usually packed with meat but today, my Cheesesteak was very empty. I felt I was only chewing on a roll. Today, I brought 3 new customers to Corropolese too, luckily their Cheesesteaks were fine and had plenty of meat. Sucks paying $15.05 and driving 1 hour for a Cheesesteak that is normally on point. Update: I've introduced many people to Corropolese, but I've been hearing the same problem. Skimpy in the meat. I'm posting new pictures of what Corropolese cheesesteaks used to look like. C'mon guys. You guys were my Quantity & Quality, but recently it's been extremely slim on the meat.
