I stopped by Spartan Arms on October 2nd, 2024, and I know absolutely nothing when it comes to guns. I’ve never held a gun, or fired a gun, I know nothing about the parts and mechanics of a gun—complete newb.
I was greeted by Paige when I walked in, and she was very patient and helpful throughout the entire process. I was told the background check would take 1-3 days, and I was called in under 10 minutes that I was cleared and could pick up my first gun. I’m still hyper and shaking from my first purchase. Everyone even the shoppers were so poised and chill.
I came in so amped I accidentally cut in front of everyone, and no one even said anything (I got myself straight a moment later, lol).
If you are a novice and know nothing about guns, you need to get exposed and start learning about this, especially given the uncertain climate we are in now. I did a lot of research, and my friend recommended Spartan Arms, so now I can personally recommend someone to start here if you’re new like me too.
I bought the Springfield Echelon handgun, and as soon as I held it, I knew this was the one. Garrett chimed in and told me it was his favorite too, and even advised me on how to properly present and prepare for the classes I’ll be taking soon.
This is how the gun scene should be, conversational, simple, open, and humble. I put this off for many years, and I constantly hesitated starting my journey into getting a gun and educating myself.
Even beyond Spartan Arms, if you’re hesitant, I deeply encourage you TO DO SOMETHING to arm and educate yourself given the times we live in.
I signed up for the Spartan Arms handgun tutorial and their CCW course, so I will be posting again in a few months.

Update November 2nd, 2024
I took the Spartan Arms Handgun Course with Chance Knoblauch, and I'm going to try to take his CCW course coming this December. He gave a wealth of information, was patient, let me use his equipment for the rental, and was very welcoming of novices into the gun community. I have a list of things to get and an even bigger list of questions to ask the next time I see him.
If you know nothing about guns and firing guns (like me), it helps a lot to take classes not to just learn part of the gun, technique, stance, and shooting, but the more nuanced things with guns.
This was my first experience, and I was told the gun community can be a bit egoic and rude to people who are not experienced/military, but I still encourage people, especially given the current climate, to get into guns and know how to use guns.

Read moreI called the store and asked the price on a Glock 21 Gen 4 and was told $499. I asked if that was for a Gen 4. I was told yes. I asked if it was with the 13 round magazines and was told yes. I asked if that was a sale price and was told no that was the normal price. I went the following day from half way across town to pay for the gun. I walked in to the store. There was no one in the store as far as customers were concerned. There was two guys behind the counter. I spoke with one and told him I was quoted the $499 for a Glock 21 Gen 4. He said that wasn't the price. I asked what the price was. He looked in the computer and told me it was $589. The guy at the other end of the counter stepped in and told this guy that was the price for a threaded barrel. He would find the price. He looked and said the price was $545. I proceeded to tell them I was quoted the $499. They both said they didn't quote that price, There was another sales man who was there the day before that might have made the "mistake". I asked them if they would honor the quote and the said they would not. It was below manufacturer MAP pricing and that Spartan Arms could lose their "license" to sell Glocks if they went below that. This is a blatant lie. I asked if they could lower their price even $5 and they said they would not go below "MAP" pricing and lose their right to sell Glock. I asked if they could do ANYthing considering I drove all the way out there to buy the gun and they weren't going to honor the price. They said no, sorry, People can make mistakes and sales man made a mistake quoting that price. Seems to me that it would be a BIG mistake for anyone to go to the store and buy anything. I was told by other people and other gun shops that, Glock only give stores the minimum price they can publicly advertise guns. The store can sell the gun at whatever price they want as long as it does not go below "Blue label" price. Blue label price is approx $435 for the Glock 21 Gen 4. They were no where near selling it below that. I will never step foot in Spartan Arms again and will do my best to deter friends and anyone I come across from going their and patronizing a business like theirs. No morals or ethics when it comes to doing business. Yes I did order the gun from a local store that gave me a price of $519. I highly recommend people shop around before buying. Shame on Spartan Arms. They will probably delete this...
Read moreTo the initial Sales person. Dont try to sell me on a Springfield prodigy. That trigger was horrible compared to an STI. and quoting you.. "Why spend more on a gun that does the same thing", No they don't.. you clearly haven't shot an STI if you're making dumb comments like that. Theres a old German saying "Buy cheap, buy twice". You proved that logic by having multiple prodigy's. I still have my STI Edge back from 2013. And you claimed you knew why they switched over to Staccato from STI International.. You didn't.. You try to feed info based on your own biased opinions instead of factual information..
Also, you said.. "No Grey zone, you can now shoulder a forearm Brace".. Not according to the ATF you sure as hell cant. Doesn't matter what the ruling was back in December (I read it), if the ATF classifies it as a brace.. then its a brace.. Like you said "WoRdS mAtTeR". Icing to the cake was when you said "You cant buy it with the intent to shoulder it.", Also, if you buy a vertical stabilizer, its a felony unless you pay a tax stamp on it. Once again, know your audience before you start making dumb comments like that. The way you talk to your customers is horrible and you need to either be reevaluated, or fired.
Luckily one of your co-workers was significantly better at customer interaction.. I wanted to give your store my business after working/talking to him.
If I was to be interacting with the 2nd salesperson initially, i would be rating this a 5 star.. he saved this review up to a 3. because after my first interaction with the bigger/taller sale rep.. I wanted nothing to do with this store.
Props to the man who saved the day with the final purchase, but like I said.. Management needs to look into that man trying to push his "Prodigy" propaganda to uninformed customers. His attitude was off putting and "holier than thou". Its one thing when you're right.. then you're just arrogant.. but you're wrong, and pushing a legal boundary with Grey zone arm braces. That excuse wont work in court, "Oh the salesman said I could shoulder it.".. Words matter.
To the Owner: And your response alone, deserves another rating.. This is what businesses need to be doing. THIS is what a good store looks like.. You deserve businesses!! Especially if the owner is reading and replying to reviews. This not only improves the business, it definitely makes...
