Tamiko is the store manager. For myself, I adore people who can be in customer service and still smile. I needed a storage unit, so I shopped around and found Life Storage.
The property is well laid out, well taken care of and has plenty of storage unit sizes for any needs. I rented a 10x15. Like most storage units, it is what it is. My unit was clean. I was charged for a lock but didnt need one. I went in and spoke with Tamiko. She refunded me the money back no problems at all. I knew with my first interaction with Tamiko she was a good soul. Friendly, respectful and full of good energy. I believe, everything went so well and quick when I was done I said to her, the only issue I had was I couldnt spend more time chatting with her. A very pleasant person.
After 1 month, Life Storage corporate decided it was a good idea to increase my rent close to $80. When I recieved the notice via mail I got in my van and headed over to see what the deal was. Now I will say I was seeing red. I try really hard to not react until I get all the facts but I was irritated since well, I had only been there for a month and an $80 rent increase is ludicrous. I did pull into the parking lot with attitude and parked right in front of the door. I went in with notice in hand. Tamiko and another gentleman were sitting there. They knew why I was there. Apparently other people had come in before me and were anything but pleasant.
I spoke with Tamiko and in her, what I had already experienced, good vibe way tried to explain what was going on. I in no way, believe she makes the rules. She is like me and has a job to do. Unfortunately like most corporations, they are blinded to the amount of emotional stress their front end people go through when dealing with other humans. They proudly make their rules in their corporate boardrooms and leave all the hard work to enforce their nonsense rules and decisions to managers and front end workers.
Tamiko informed she was calling corporate to find out what was going on and would call me in a day or so and let me know where I stood with my rent. Two days later she called and informed me, my rent would stay the same. I have great respect for Tamiko and I do appreciate her very much for sorting this out for me! If anyone reads this please try and see frontend workers as people like yourself. They have a job to do. They don't make the rules. Treat them with dignity and respect. I can promise you, things will get worked out so much better by doing so.

They allowed us to put up caution tape after Ian damaged the fence for added safety and security, the manager allowed us to park our camper for an hour or 2, she had no issues with it at all. Very pleased with the experience so far! This location gets 5 stars all day! 😁
To edit: We've been renting a unit here for the last few months and recently discovered our key doesn't work. We were late by 5 days and didn't receive a single call, text or anything, regarding payment. We run our own business and are very busy and sometimes an email isn't our best route for communication. Not only did we assist in taping off the destroyed gate and fence that still has yet to be fixed, we offered to quote them on the repair and no response to that. Now we've been hit with a 50$ late fee after only 5 days and can't access any of our fence materials or our tools. It's put a pause on our work, and has cost us more than the payment for the unit. We have single tools that are worth more than the monthly rate itself that we can't access and quite frankly, don't feel safe leaving in an ungated unit complex. We started at (I believe) store 509 with a wonderful lady who did not have the size storage we needed but who steered us to store 1017. She called them to make sure they had our storage size available and also helped us fill out the form. At store 1017, we encounter Dennis who was ready for us and helped us tremendously. We have since gone back and have had excellent service with Tamiko there also. I can’t say enough about the representatives at life storage that we came across. They were very helpful, knowledgeable, polite, and genuinely made us feel like we were the only customer they had all day. We had quite a few questions as we’ve never done storage before and everyone was very patient with us. I just wanted to give a shout out to the Saturday lady at store (I believe) 509 on Tamiami Trail and Tamiko and Dennis from store 1017.
