The staff member who assisted us was notably rude and unprofessional. A friend selected a $9.50 item labeled “Mom Vintage Band-Aid Tin” to purchase. At checkout, the cashier questioned, in a condescending tone, why they were buying it. After my friend explained it was for their mother, a pharmacist who collects vintage medical items, the cashier responded saying, “Well, this was my mother’s, and I don’t see it as vintage,” with visible irritation. When my friend attempted to tap their card, she abruptly said “No,” despite the terminal showing tap functionality, then snatched the card, and tossed it back on the counter after completing the transaction. She ended with a sarcastic “Well, this made my day,” and responded to our polite “Thank you” with a curt “Mhm.” This conduct was inappropriate, as we were simply purchasing a clearly labeled item offered for sale—unaware it held personal value.
