I've actually been a paying customer at this salon once. My first experience was a good one. Why the 2 stars then, you ask? Because, had I not had that first good experience, it would have been 1 star. Twice this week, I have left work early and drove 40 minutes home to a closed salon that should have been open. And this is the 4th time in 2 weeks I've attempted to get my son in for a cut at this salon.
The first time I walked by and took note of the hours. Second time I went during hours the salon sign stated that it should have been opened, but it was closed. No big deal. I, too, am a small business owner and understand that sometimes emergencies (or life) happens and you can't be at work. I get it. So I called the salon, got an answering machine that listed completely different hours from the ones on the sign in the window and planned accordingly.
Monday, I leave work early to make sure that I get my son in for his cut during the hours of operation, make that 40 minute drive home, only to find the salon is (yet again) not open. Cue today (Wednesday). I call the salon before leaving for work and speak with the actual woman who works there and I ask her, "How late will you be open today?", and she tells me, "5pm". I thank her, head to work and then leave a little before 4pm to drive home to pick up my son.
At 4:25 (when I'm more than halfway home) my son messages me to tell me that he, and his big brother, walked to the salon and it isn't open... AGAIN! I have now wasted a huge chunk of workable hours because this woman can't be open when her sign, answering machine, or she (herself) says. It's ABSOLUTELY unprofessional and extremely frustrating. Her answering machine clearly states that Friday and Saturday are "by appointment only". Maybe she should change it to say that every day is by appointment only if she can't be there when she advertises or states to customers that very same day. Words of advice, make an appointment regardless. Hopefully then she'll actually be there when you take the time out of your day to give her...
Read moreYou'll have to forgive that two-star review. I am biologically related to the poster of it, and I can tell you that this person has serious mental and emotional problems. My wife is a nail technician, so I understand that a hairdresser being open until 5:00 means you leave at 5:00. Meaning, if no one scheduled an appointment, by 4:25 p.m., if you don't have anyone coming in, you go home. Maybe a big corporate hair salon would stay open and not close the doors until exactly the posted closing time, but from what it seems to me you are a relatively small shop. So I mean yeah, you could wait a few more minutes, but before too long if anyone walked in off the street wanting a haircut, it would mean working past 5:00.
If this person did make an appointment, which she did not indicate doing (she only asked when you were open until, meaning, how late you would stay open if you had someone to provide service to, said thanks, and hung up) and you abandoned her, then I guess you don't know how to do business. But from what I can tell, all you did was look at your clock, realize that unless somebody showed up right then and there for a small service, your work day was over. I'm sure you have a life outside of work, just as this person is demanding you to understand and put ahead of your own. You have all 5 Star reviews, many with positive feedback. One 2 star review that doesn't have any feedback, and then this selfish rant that is unfortunately bringing down the rating of what appears to be a 5-star business. I wish...
