Giant Eagle Supermarket — Local services in Northern Cambria

I don't know what employees other reviewers have met at this store, but I have yet to meet one that seems to like their job. They are not professional, do not even pretend to be nice to the customers, and just look bored most of the time. The prices here (and every Giant Eagle I have ever been to) are ridiculous compared to most grocery stores, but I guess they have that right being that Northern Cambria has only 2 small grocery stores and they are both high priced. I cannot find everything I need here (it's a small store so there is a lot they don't carry). Also, if you have a large family (like I do), this store is even more expensive because they do not sell bulk items. Most stores will sell huge packs of meat at a lower price because you are buying a larger amount of it, but this store has small packs of everything, so you just have to buy several packs and it gets pricey. It works when I need something quickly (provided it's basic enough that they have it), but I prefer to shop at stores out of town just for the customer service, prices, and availability of the food...

I recently ordered a birthday cake for my mother in law. When ordering, I asked for buttercream icing and asked if they could put whole strawberries on the corners. When I picked up the cake, it was in a box with a lid, ( not a clear lid where I could see it) I assumed it was the cake I ordered. Once I got home, I opened the box and gasped!!! The lettering was smeared, and instead of WHOLE STRAWBERRIES as requested, it was strawberry glaze and the sides were collapsed I immediately called the bakery. They asked me if I could bring it back to get "fixed". I had people arriving any minute so that was not an option. When I addressed the strawberry issue, I was told that they do not use fresh fruit, only glaze. That was NOT told to me at the time of ordering. It's clean.. has a pharmacy but alot of times there's a huge waiting line and the privacy isn't really good. People behind you can still hear you and the person you are talking to. The whole setup at that pharmacy sucks big time. No privacy and how they have the line set up. You're in line and blocking alot of times people trying to check out there groceries. If you have problems standing length of period of times there's no place to sit while you're waiting in line. They should get a setup for people like taking numbers and have benches put through out the store and or have a setup they wait in there car some way of hearing the numbers being called so you're privacy stays private. I know there's a way of doing that so no lingering around the desk and blocking people checking out or...
