Homestead Auctions — Local services in Norton

Saturday I attended the actual auction at their so called "auction house" in a strip mall. It seemed promising in the beginning, the "auctioneer" stated all items had a 5 dollar minimum bid and would not go below that, if it didn't sell for $5 it would pass. "Auctioneer" also stated he did not deal in reserves and that no item in the auction had a reserve. Once the auction started the wheels quickly fell off the bus. This "auctioneer" was extremely rude and degrading to his employees, yelling at them over a loudspeaker and making them seem incompetent. He was the most unprofessional and rude auctioneer ive ever encountered. This gentleman made the whole atmosphere of the auction awkward. The folks running the auction had their "favorites", I held up my bid card a few times and never got acknowleged even though I was making direct eye contact with the person looking for bids. Half way through the auction an item had a reserve! even though they never deal with reserves. Some items the "auctioneer" would just pass on if he felt they didn't go high enough. FYI its an auction....and that's not how it works. This guy was even rude to the patrons in the audience. Personally I will never attend this auction again,...

I bought many items in their auction. I called to see when I could pick them up. Mel said she'd be there Thursday at 9:00. After an hours drive I found the place locked! I called the # on the window and Mel had to call her husband to come and let me in??? Waiting. Finally get my items and didn't get a copy of my invoice as husband is not used to handling such matters. Now every item I bought from them via AuctionZip has an 'open dispute'. I've contacted them twice to remind them that the items were paid for and to mark them as such. They have no cares about customer service and don't know the concept of 'repeat business'. I should have paid more attention to the other bad reviews and steered clear! I've contacted AuctionZip about this and showed that the payment from my debit card was made to Homestead Auctions in hopes of a remedy. Unbelievable! ADDENDUM: They won't let me change the star rating but I did deal with the owner, Jeff, and everything was smooth sailing. Helpful and...

I'm a repeat and out-of-state buyer at Homestead. They always have interesting items which are accurately described. My most recent purchase was three lots of glassware, and these items were somewhat rare and very hard to find.

I always think twice about purchasing fragile items that have to be shipped a long distance, and especially when they are large lots of fragile glassware. In this case I shouldn't have worried, because Mel knows her business, and packed the items with the utmost care and professionalism. This was a shipment that was in an oversize box, and was very labor intensive to wrap and package. The shipping charges were fair and reasonable for this shipment.

This is an auction house that can be relied upon for accurate descriptions, unique items, and shipping that is expert and cost effective. Truly high and ethical standards in every facet of the way they conduct...
