Foundry 66 — Local services in Norwich

Our team at Miranda Creative decided to renovate our office at 18 Elm Avenue on the Norwichtown Green. We needed a temporary space to house about 16 creative types while the office was undergoing lots of physical changes. Having worked with the Norwich Community Development Corporation and being familiar with its hosted, co-working space in downtown Norwich (called Foundry 66), we decided to rent a variety of spaces at the Foundry for about six weeks while our Norwichtown office was undergoing the renovation.

In a nutshell, Foundry 66 is an amazing space in an incredible location in downtown Norwich!

LOCATION: There is plenty of parking and there are so many restaurants (lunch options) within walking distance. Downtown is a comfortable, friendly, community environment where you can find that “everyone knows your name” after awhile, if that is your thing.

AMENITIES: Foundry66 has several conference rooms available for rent. There is always coffee and sparkling, flavored water on tap. You can hook up to the color printers. The restrooms are spotless. There are refrigerators and microwaves for your convenience. Most importantly, there are so many comfortable open spaces that you can just grab your laptop and plop down and work! By the way, F66 is dog-friendly… the resident yellow lab, Leo, will certainly bring you joy, every day :)

Our little town has grown up!

I have been to about a dozen virtual work-spaces around the country, and they are very sterile, and you are isolated from anyone and anything. They are just a place to make calls from and plug your laptop in.

Imagine my surprise when I walked in and met Jill Fritzsche at what was the complete opposite of what my decades of travel had made me expect.

Not only were there lots of offices of various sizes, but there were people all over... talking! Lots of interaction between tenants, a busy lobby, and the feeling you get from a remodeled warehouse-much of the original architecture intact.

The whole street-facing wall is glass from top to bottom, and the variety of meeting rooms and office spaces are more than any I have used in even New York.

To give you an idea, every time I am there, if someone comes in off the street, whoever is around greets them warmly, and asks how they can help them-far from the cold isolation of a major metro, right down to the honor system snacks!

I now interact with several tenants, and not a one has ever complained about anything, but rather sings the praises. I hope as the effort expands it doesn't lose that 'vibe' that is so essential to entrepreneurs and...
