SUMMARY: My wife and I stayed one night at the Cozy Bear Cottages in a unit called "Little Bear" in October 2014. The accommodations were wonderful, the owners were extremely nice and helpful, and the location was perfect. I highly recommend staying at the Cozy Bear.
-----DETAILS----- LOCATION: The Cozy Bear is located in Yosemite West, a small community that is technically outside the park although the only road in or out goes through Yosemite. Many of the properties there are made up of several units which are rented out to vacationers seasonally. Some visitors will rent a room or a cabin for a day, some will spend weeks. The Cozy Bear has several cottage units of varying sizes to accommodate your group's needs. The cottages are very close to the road to glacier point and only a short drive to either Yosemite Valley or Mariposa Grove.
STAFF: The owners are extremely friendly and helpful! We were very rushed this day and arrived several hours later than planned. Neal was out in his truck helping a neighbor who had gone off the road, so Carol checked us in. It looked as though they lived in the unit above the "Little Bear" which we had rented for the night. During check-in we mentioned that in our haste we had forgotten to bring some important supplies. Shortly after, Neal came to our door with a large bag filled with some items to help us get through our stay!
ROOM: The Little Bear was completely decked out in bear decorations. The table was held up by a wooden bear, the wall hangings were all bears, the bedspread and blankets all had bears on them, etc. My wife and I loved the theme. The cottage was also well stocked, with a full working kitchen with pots, pans, dishes, and silverware. There was a grill outside for barbecuing as well. There was also coffee, tea, and hot chocolate packets. There was a fireplace in the living room and a cupboard filled with cards and boardgames. For those looking to keep connected to the world there was also a flat panel TV with lots of channels...
Read moreWe stayed at the Cozy Bear Hollow. We have traveled all over the world and have never had so many amenities. The two bedrooms were spacious, had a TV in ours. Both bathrooms were large, had been renovated and were clean with extra sets of towels. The kitchen was spacious and had every kind of cooking equipment we could have wanted, dishes, bowls, crock pot, rice cooker.
The living room has chairs and couch, nice TV, plenty of movies. Washer and dryer were in a laundry room as well as a book case.
The wrap-around deck had a grill, hot tub, and plenty of tables, chairs and a swing and couches.
There Is even a "clubhouse" with a foosball table & a pool table.
We came to see Yosemite and wish we had more time to sit and enjoy our cottage. We have already recommended it to our...
Read moreThis cottage is on Yosemite West, about 30 minutes inside the south entrance to the park. The location is amazing. The price is reasonable. Unfortunately, during our stay we had lots of issues. We tried contacting the rental management company and they were totally useless. We were fortunate that the owners live nearby, because the heat did not work. He was kind enough to bring over two heat dishes that kept us warm as the temperature outside dipped below freezing while we were there. Hopefully he changes his management company because he definitely isn't getting his...
