I tried to reach out to manager before posting this. I did not hear back after a week.
We stayed at Tree Haven, having booked the place through VRBO in August. As you can see I did not receive details until the day before our stay. While my family and I enjoyed certain amenities that this place had, I am requesting a partial refund based on a few items that were not part of the VRBO listing or not up to par with regards to a vacation rental unit. The main items were that the internet was listed as part of the VRBO listing, in which it does not state limited internet or internet capped. This was one of the filters that I specifically put on searching for a rental, as my husband would be working from the rental that Wednesday before Thanksgiving. When we were unable to access the internet in the cabin, we looked at the book and it stated we could drive to the rental office to use the internet. Using the map in the book, my husband and son drove to the appropriately marked location, only to find that it was another rental with no one from the business to speak with. Upon meeting a few maintenance workers, he inquired where the rental office was and they stated for him to "look in his vacation manual". My husband had to take time off and find coverage for that day. Other than that, I have added a list of issues you might want to fix before another person rents this facility.
Toaster oven doesn't work. Dishwasher was broken and my husband had to try to fix it. One lamp in the living room broke and one completely didn't work. Could not use wifi due to limit enforcement Tried to find the rental center to download things on their map. Was not labeled correctly. Dishes are not clean upon usage. Cobwebs in kitchen Patio by dining room smelled like mold Washer machine says "do not use" with the "do not" taken off. Not sure if we could use it. Chips on tile in bathroom Sink drainer won't open in upstairs bathroom Zip tie holding up chandelier in dining room Furnace vent cracked open Plugs in the upstairs bedroom don't hold plugs. Not able to charge or use night lamps Bathtub faucet dripped even though we never used Sponge and cleaning rag we're old and moldy.
While we enjoyed our time being close to the valley and having a place to come back to, the amount charged was definitely not worth the above inconveniences. Please see attached link with pictures. Again, I am requesting a partial refund given that we could not use all the facilities that were listed on the VRBO description, as the description is very inaccurate. You need to post a link in the first line of your description that links to your company, so those renting can see your true website. This residence needs to be listed as "multi-level" as well, as we had someone in our party who uses a cane and can climb stairs, but has difficulty. Here are some photos of...
Read moreWe stayed at the Aviary in Yosemite West and there were pros and cons. Each house is different so look at reviews and photos. Some houses look gorgeous while others look a bit worn. PROS: the location is excellent; close to Glacier Point, where we spent one day, and 30 min to Yosemite Village. It was great to have five bedrooms between the two units and having two separate units was perfect for us. We enjoyed eating on the larger, lower deck in the evenings. Having ample parking for at least 4 cars is helpful. The kitchen in the lower unit was quite large, upstairs it was smaller and a little cramped, considering that was the larger unit. The place was reasonably clean and linens were in good shape. There were lots of extra beds besides the five main beds in the bedrooms. The Scenic Wonders staff was responsive and helpful when we couldn't figure out how to lock the front door with electronic keypad (push the small button on top and then manually twist the dial to lock the deadbolt) CONS: This place desperately needs some TLC, maintenance and upgrades. The #1 issue was the carpeting, which needs to be replaced, period. There were large stains and it looked so dingy overall that no one was willing to walk barefoot on it. The floors in the kitchen and bathrooms were updated and should have been continued throughout (probably a laminate flooring that looked like wood). Numerous things needed handyman attention such as baseboards that were replaced that were smaller than the original so there's a strip of peeling paint throughout, towel rack and TP holder that had come off and was stored below the bathroom sink rather than being replaced, dishwasher in the upper unit tips forward and screeches when pulled open. The downstairs unit walls were plain white and clean with not a single picture in any room, just bare white walls. There's a flat screen TV but no cabinet underneath so the cord just hangs down partway to the floor with the cable box dangling. About half the chairs outside were in decent shape but the other half were coming apart. There's an odd 3rd kitchen on the top level with a stove and washer/dryer; refrigerator was in another room by the pool table. We could have used another blanket on the beds downstairs as there was just a sheet and the bedspread. The furniture overall is cheap and pretty worn but generally adequate. We never managed to get WiFi; those of us with Verizon had a weak signal but those with ATT were...
Read moreWe had a very poor experience staying at Scenic Wonder's Pine Cove location between Christmas and New Year's 2021. Upon checking in to Pine Cove, we noticed none of the heater units in the house were working. In the middle of a snow storm, the place was extremely cold. Maintenance attempted to fix the heater units, but no success. Unfortunately, the house did not have any space heaters as a backup. Maintenance found one space heater at another rental, but this was not sufficient for living or sleeping.
We were extremely disappointed. I expressed my frustration to James from the management office on a number of points: (1) There was no communication in advance that the heater units were not working; (2) James offered no apology for the situation; (3) while James offered to move us to another unit for the night, we arrived in the middle of a snow storm, and I did not want to put my family at risk of getting into a serious accident; (4) James proceeded to explain that the house is relatively new and remarked, "Don't you understand that new appliances break down all the time, like a washer and dryer?" I found this to be quite rude and unsympathetic. I asked whether the cleaning crew checked if the heating units were working before we arrived, since that should have be done. Also, if the expectation is that the appliances like heating units break down frequently, wouldn't you plan accordingly and have space heaters as a backup at the house or have extra space heaters on hand at the management office? Considering the basic necessity of heating and how it snows frequently in the winter in Yosemite, how does this company not plan accordingly?
James apparently took my frustrations very personally and told me that he did not appreciate being "scolded." Instead of taking in and processing my comments to see what could be done better next time, he angrily responded that he was done talking to me and that "in two more seconds, you are out of the place." I have never been treated by a business this way. I was shocked that he threatened to evict us in the middle of the night, in the middle of a snow storm, with no place to go. Is this how this company responds to frustrated renters and complaints about basic heating? I did not violate any terms of the contract to warrant an eviction. The fact that James threatened us with an unlawful eviction was so shocking that it left me speechless and utterly...
