A very mixed bag of an operation although we did leave with mainly positive memories. That said, because of the wonderful location the prices are a little steep all things considered and we don’t feel it offers good value for the money. Accommodations are a little tired and not the cleanest we experienced in our three week Californian trip. Check-in procedures were not the most efficient and some of those staff were less than welcoming. We found ourselves in the queue hoping that we didn’t get one particularly surly young lady who was quite miserable. Check-in doesn’t open until 4.00pm and for some quite bizarre reason you cannot book a table in the restaurant when you arrive at the reception desk. Overall we encountered some really great staff offering great customer service, as well as some dreadful staff simply going through the motions. Management need to look at improving training and consistency across the business. You’re being let down by some...
Read moreThe Yosemite Valley Lodge is our favorite choice for a stay in the Valley. Although reservations can be very difficult some times of year, other times it is a snap. Our room on this last trip was so nice and warm, and it was and end room with a picture window into the tree. The little fridge was great for a few cold things. The hot water was HOT water. So be careful. I think we were next to the industrial strength water heating facility so we go first shot. To be able to walk out the front door of our room and three steps and have a full view of Yosemite Falls is priceless. The hotel staff was very helpful in getting our room at check in, in getting us late check out when the park exit road was closed and in getting us up to the minute information about the road conditions. The lobby is comfy and the Christmas tree in the lobby was beautiful. there are plugs by some of the chairs to keep the internet going and with free internet, fabulous,...
Read moreThe lodge is the ideal spot if you want to be in the heart of the valley. It’s close to some key sights and trails, and has next to a good range of food outlets. Compared to the Majestic it seems good value, with some caveats. In our lodge, the Wi-fi didn’t work and the heating was noisy. Also thin walls meant we could hear our noisy neighbours one night so have earplugs on hand if you’re a light sleeper. Otherwise...
