Economy Lumber Piedmont — Local services in Oakland

The guys that I've interacted with at Economy Lumber have been extremely patient and helpful. They worked with my oldest son to figure out what sizes of lumber he should purchase for his Eagle project so that they could cut it from larger pieces to save him money. They also gave him a student/community service discount. My younger son recently went in early at 7:30am on a Friday morning to get lumber for a school project and they again told us the most cost effective sizes and quality of boards to purchase and then cut it for him. I dropped him at school with the cut lumber by 8:30am. I know we were lucky that they were not busy that morning, but it was just so awesome that they could and did help us so quickly. The selection is awesome but I had a negative experience. I went early in the morning to buy wood for a project and the people at the front were kind enough to help me understand everything, but when it came to collecting the wood, they were out of it!

They found one last piece for me but it was the scraps! They also worked really fast as looking for it and giving it to me so I felt like I couldn't tell them that my wood was warped. The wood was super warped but it was still sold to me. Part of it is on me but why would you sell me warped wood?

I came in for very dry, light pieces of lumber and 5000 psi concrete for a job. I was very specific about needing 5000 psi and not anything else. The yard men loaded the truck. When I got to the unload spot I noticed the lumber was very heavy and damp - sure to warp. Did I mention I rented a truck? I returned it and went back to the site. That's when I read the concrete bags - 4000 psi. I wasted money for the rental truck and lost an entire day of work. I am not happy at all. Everyone was very nice, but what good does that do me when the things I paid for are useless to me, and will cost me another day to replace. Oh that's right. I've actually lost two...
