Ride Oakland is simply one of the best indoor cycling studios. I have been coming to Ride for about 5 years and have never had a bad experience. I always leave feeling stronger and more confident in myself. As a student, it is so great that Ride offers special student deals for $18/Ride, which is WAY cheaper than any other studio or gym nearby and the classes are really worth every penny.
The instructors are all very friendly and knowledgeable. The studio is also very welcoming to new spinners, offering tours to the newbies and helping them get set up on the bike with ease. The studio is always very clean. They offer towels and shoes for no additional cost which is an excellent perk for a student trying to save as much as possible.
Ride also does weekly themed classes which are fun and switch up the work out. Street parking in front of the studio is also super easy. Overall, Ride offers an epic community of spinners and a great environment to exercise and get to know your fellow Bay Area humans. I highly recommend trying a class here and the first class is...
Read moreI come to classes at Ride Oakland when I'm visiting the Bay Area a couple times a year, and I've had great classes for the most part. My favorite instructors to take classes from are Sarah L and Donna - I love that they stay on the beat for the entire class (except for sprint/run intervals) and that their choreography matches up with the 8- and 32-counts usually (the perfectionist in me gets driven up the wall when choreography sets don't match up).
The only thing I don't love is that they sometimes have you ride flats that are WAY too fast, and especially too fast to be riding out of the saddle. I've never felt safe being out of the saddle at over 100 bpms, and I've been doing indoor cycling classes for over 10 years.
Other than that, though, the classes are fun and sweaty! I love the vibe, which is much more laid back than and not at all snotty like some other popular cycling studios that shall remain nameless. I also love that shoes are included...
Read moreMost people don't love waking up in the early hours to travel to the gym for exercise. I needed to do something “different” outside of my normal gym grind. The formats are AMAZING—From music types, to instructor variation, and length of class, the variation makes you feel that have a unique ride experience every time. Every instructor has a different style about riding so you can choose an instructor who fits you. Some are more inspiring while others like to push you and have fun. All the instructors hired go through intense training so they are experts in what they do. No one is watching you or judging you, which can be extremely intimidating! The front row riders are usually riders who have been to multiple classes so they understand the positions and it is easy to follow along with them as well as the instructor. I always say that the 45 minute class feels like a 45 minute therapy session! I could not recommend Ride Oakland Cycling...
