I’ll start by saying we had always used this location and had always had wonderful service… until now.
Buyer Beware! Increased prices, not advertised! Won’t follow their own written policy on their issued receipt of purchase.
My husband went to the UPS store in Oakwood to do business and while there bought a book of stamps. As he was walking to the car which was parked on the side street due to store front pavement construction (no vehicle drive / parking and not a big deal, only elaborating for time frame purpose), once at the car he realized they charged him $20 for the book instead of $14.60 at federal cost. Now, I suppose not asking if they up charge ($5.40 per book) is my husband’s fault. He immediately called the shop from the car which was parked around the corner, he spoke to Zach. He was told they do charge $1.00 per stamp and they cannot issue a refund, that sales are final. My husband asked for a supervisor to talk to, was told he was the supervisor. My husband asked to speak to whoever was over him or a corporate number and was told he is unable to give a number because they are franchise. My husband left his name and number for a call back and was told that he may not get a call back that it was up to the manger if they wanted to call back. That itself alone is extremely poor business. However, my husband did get a call back from Carrie who said no returns / refunds as she states the receipt says not refundable (not true). The funny thing is the receipt does NOT say the stamps are not refundable (receipt attached for transparency, item is NOT marked “NR” as the receipt states items will be marked if not refundable). So this morning my husband went in to talk to Carrie who was not there and later spoke to on the phone again. He was told it was a training error that he wasn’t told that sales were final on postage stamps, that they will be talking to all their employees to avoid this in the future and that there was a sign up in the store to alert customers (also not true). My husband asked Zach to show him the sign, which he looked all around and couldn’t produce the signage. Zach also commented that knowing the costs of what other people sell postage isn’t his job, that they are not purchasing from the post office so they are a business and who needs to make money off them (again, although the pricing is not displayed anywhere in the store). Our error was my husband not questioning before he swiped his credit card and we 100% own that mistake. In typical scenarios my husband would have noticed immediately, however he has recently had severe brain trauma following brain surgery a couple months ago and is still cognitively recovering. This was a lesson learned to slow down and make sure businesses are not taking extra advantage of their loyal customers.
So bottom line: They do NOT tell you they up charge. They do NOT not have it posted anywhere in the store (at least not until they decide to put something up today lol). They will NOT honor their own store policy printed in black and white on their very own receipt (attached to this review). It’s rather sad and poor customer service to lose repeated business over a simple $5.40. (To me, it is not about the money but the poor business ethics). The funny part… he was told to make up for their training error, signage error, etc… they could offer my husband a store credit for a notarizing service lol. No thanks, we have a credit union for that lol.
I would still like to leave a positive note as well… My husband did say the employees he interacted with were kindly speaking to him, no attitude at all whatsoever and believed they were probably just following even higher management /...
Read moreNot a bad UPS store. I shipped away my luggage from this location. Just got my luggage back and one item was broken. Now with that being said this location didn’t carry fragile stickers and that could have been one reason why. I originally shipped my suitcases out from elmhurst illinois. They had fragile stickers and everything was fine. So if you have anything breakable just make sure you bubble wrap it well. The other thing is the shipping was a lot more expensive shipping my suitcases back and the associate wasn’t sure why. I did call customer service and they couldn’t answer it as well. Once again I shipped it from elmhurst Illinois and my total was $174 and here it was $299 basically double. The last miscommunication which this is on UPS as a company is the shipment of aerosol cans. When I shipped them to Ohio I called and asked in person the elmhurst location and they said they can and will ship aerosol cans but only by ground. When I went here I was told they cannot ship aerosol cans. Luckily they made an accepting . I called another location in Ohio and they said the same. After that second location I called the one in elmhurst Illinois and triple checked. The girl on the phone said once again yes we can send it as long as it’s ground. When I called customer service and asked they notified me every UPS store is run under different management and has different rules. For me this is a huge ordeal for customers. UPS as a company and corporate needs to be all on the same page and should be able to answer questions. The associates were great but the service from a company stand point not the greatest. Again the fact that this location didn’t have any fragile stickers either is a little concerning.
Just opened all my suitcases and a good majority of my makeup even in the makeup box (which is a hard box) is cracked or broken.
If you need to ship anything out from this location that’s fragile be...
Read moreTotally disgusted by the way, I was treated at the store today. I walked in to the only customer service person at the register. I was first in line and I stood there with my box and she said one moment I have to straighten up as she dusted off her register and sorted her little cards all over the place, her name was Nadine. I asked her if they made copies. She said oh yes we do. I said how much I don’t know I am clueless and started giggling like a schoolyard girl. She continued cleaning her area and I said are you going to take my box Oh, in just a second and I said well times up I’m in a little bit of a hurry and she giggled, but continue to clean. Another person came in another cashier came to another register service them. Another person came in and the third service person Took care of them. Both of them had completed your transactions and went back to work in the back, Nadine was still straightening up her counter area. I asked her if she could please hurry up and she giggled and thought it was funny and I told her I am not amused. It’s not funny. I’m in a hurry. Well, she just laughed more. UPS is supposed to be a service business which provides courteous and prompt service. I did not receive either one I felt like she was laughing at me every time I asked her a question or let her know that I was in a hurry and as far as her helping me in a prompt matter, she took her good old time totally...
