These guys showed up then left, saying they would come back the next day. Never showed up again, never called, overcharged us for our unit by 2000$.
Let's run down the list of reasons why you should choose someone OTHER than Oldsmar AC...
They had the temerity to tell us they actually came to our house and waited 30 minutes before leaving. Ironic, since we have a Ring doorbell and everyone who actually wants to notify us that they are here would actually, you know, RING THE DOORBELL. No Ring notifications on my phone. None on my wife's either. Further, this is the same group that didn't show up consistently when saying "We'll be there b/w 10-2" every day this week.
After many unanswered phone calls from both me and my wife, my wife tried to meet them the office, since we actually have a contract and expect service for the money we pay them. No response, but the neighbor companies had some very negative things to say about them that I won't repeat. They also said Randa was in fact there when my wife came, that her car was there, and that she was simply refusing to answer the door (which was apparently common).
After calling in another company to fix the issue (Nice job Momentum AC!), they told us that Oldsmar AC had overcharged us for the unit we bought from them by ~2,000$. We were also oversold on the unit by their technicians, inthat it would save us at least 50$ a month in electric bills, which has never materialized.
Even before this big problem, Oldsmar AC has had a long history with us of barely pass-able service. Leaks in the unit causing problems. Poor quality in the installation requiring multiple call-backs. Terrible welds. Technicians who caused more problems then they actually solved.
In their response to my wife's well-earned 1-star review, they said she was threatening them. In fact, the only threat she made was to report them to every consumer division, blog, and social media site for their bad behavior, including the BBB if they continued to not show up. Read moreIf I were you, I would not use Oldsmar AC for any service needs. In April 2022, my wife and I contacted Oldsmar AC when the AC unit in our rental stopped working. A technician came out and installed a new unit. We specifically asked for a permit for the work so that we would be prepared if one was requested. The technician committed to provide us with the permit, but he did not. Shortly after the unit was installed, it shut off. After my tenant inspected the unit, he noticed that the flow switch was full of water and the unit was not draining properly. Oldsmar AC charged us $250 to clear the drain line, which didn't work. We even paid someone else to clear our neighbor's line in case it was blocking our drainage; the problem persists. After researching the problem, our unit and the unit below us have a common drain line. After researching and consulting, it looks like the drain simply needs to be trapped between the two units. Unfortunately, Eric at Oldsmar AC has refused to try this simple potential solution. Eric at Oldsmar has also failed to provide the permit paperwork which is unfortunate because an inspection would help determine the cause of my tenant having to constantly empty the flow switch for the brand new unit to work. Read moreIn April my air condition unit went out upstairs. Oldsmar AC came and replaced the unit without issue. However, a few months later my second AC went out. It was not until I utilized a different and more affordable company that we learned that Oldsmar AC DID NOT PERMIT THE WORK THEY COMPLETED. We have contacted several times and been given the run around. I am now working with my bank because the company has refused to complete the work with the permit and inspection four months out now! If my second unit had not gone out and the other company who had the permit pulled and inspector out within 48 hours I would have never known that this was incomplete. Randa the front desk lady who "works" there seems very scattered and disorganized. Many times she seems flighty on the phone. I was told they would be out last Friday for the inspection and nothing! I called the office and she had "left for the day" at 1pm! This is the most frustrating experience. The work is not complete without an inspection. My next move will be to contact the BBB.
