Beautiful new park with large sites and lots of green vegetation. It’s on a series of canals and mangrove waterways that lead to Mobbly Bay and eventually Tampa Bay by canoe or kayak.
We travel with in a motorhome with bicycles and no “toad” so access to stuff is critical for us. Target 2km, Tractor Store 1.5km, Lowes and Publix 1.5 km. Shopping and supplies are within walking/biking distance. The bike paths and bike lanes are awesome in the area, you can go for miles and miles. We rode to see the Blue Jays play spring ball in Dunedin, and to Costco (8km). We’ve also bicycled to golf at Countryway golf club (5km) with our clubs on the bike. A lovely course and so inexpensive ($18 with cart after 1pm!).
The best thing is the Hillsborough County Park about 1km walk from the door of the park. It’s got shaded walking paths and you can rent kayaks and canoes for $25/ hr. We paddled out to Mobbly Bay and had lunch on the water in the canoe. We walk in the park every day, it’s so beautiful!
Restaurants! Oh how I love thee! There are a number of brew pubs in the area. Tampa Bay Brewers was our favourite. Wonderful tasty beer with Ahi Tuna to die for. I’m only sad we didn’t get to go there again, as it was first class. But we ate a Fat Beet Farm (.5 km) and we were so happy with the sandwiches! I had a French dip and C had a Power Chicken. I wish we could go back again.
A refreshing pool and hot tub to enjoy a soak at the end of a busy day.
The only downside was Hillsborough Rd, basically a 6 lane highway right behind the park. Our row backed into the road so you hear traffic from 6.30 to 11 or so. We got used to it, but it’s a bit intrusive initially. But your access to the surrounding areas is so easy. Safety Harbour, Dunedin, Clearwater and St Pete’s beach within 30 min by car. We took the coach to Siesta Key for the day (1.5hr drive), but parked at Macy’s in Sarasota and rode our bikes to the key, about a 40 min ride past beautiful houses and resorts on the ocean. Such beautiful white sand beaches. And Capt’n Curt restaurant there had fantastic food and Margaritas.
We hope to return next year for a couple of weeks if there is availability....
Read moreThis is the only kids friendly RV resort we know in this area. The RV place next door even doesn’t allow kids playing outside by themselves. There is policy car parked near gate always so it feels super safe. We booked this place due to my husband medical reason. He needs go to Tampa General hospital frequently so we figured RV might be the most flexible and economical way. It’s less than half an hour drive to downtown and hospital so it’s convenient. When we got there our RV has water problem but my husband can’t help. Three families came to help us. The husbands worked together for hours to fix it. We were so moved. My husband was admitted to hospital the next day. I was kind of stressed. Then neighbors invited me for hotdogs. I was hesitant to go first but then my son encouraged me to go. I sat there outside with a bunch of people. Just chatting. I chatted for hours. It was so stress relief. The owner Joe is super friendly. He lives on the second floor of club house. Everyone knows him and talks to him. He will hand the packages to your door in case postman drops it off at front office. The whole camp is super tidy. Every lot has a palm tree, although it’s small. You know, this place is new. The pool is not ready yet. The club house is not ready yet. But they will. My husband got his surgery done very quickly and successfully. Much ahead of the timeline we expected. It is a miracle. I almost feel this place gives us this kind of luck. At this moment this place is kind empty. Of course it’s hot summer, snowbirds are not here yet. I just love this place. Hope I can put my RV here every summer. By the way I don’t cook. I use Uber Eat every day. There are so many choices. Super convenient. Also I recommend one restaurant cross street - Le Peep. Best breakfast restaurant ever. What else? Publix is three minutes drive. Target is 5 minutes...
Read moreSuch a small gem of a campground! Sweet girl who worked the desk and gave us a freshly baked cookie at check in. The sites and amenities are clean and the wifi was great where we were. The sites were a bit narrow but we were lucky we had no one on either side of us. I saw a dog park but didn’t get close to give a review. The landscaping is nice but they need to mow and kill the amount of weeds on the sites. We took advantage of the kayak launch to go paddle boarding. A quiet paddle through brackish water filled with pretty houses and mangroves along the way. At the launch there is a “house” and behind it is filled with junk which distracts from the quaintness of the campground so Im not sure why its allowed to look like a dumping ground. The pool was clean but showed signs of pending algae but it had not bloomed yet. The pool deck was clean and we appreciated the nice patio furniture although the cushions need replaced. Loved the dock and the huge community fireplace! Its close to great restaurants and I highly recommend going to Safety Harbor for cute shops and great food!! We will...
