It's been 10 months since my previous 5 star review, and after being a client for at least 7 years, I will have to take my rating down to one star considering my recent experience. I was approached with a deal from Mirage's marketing partner offering 4 services for a flat rate of $59. Cut and Style, Massage, Facial, and choice of mani or pedi. Mindi and I spoke about Turning Heads new ownership/rebranding to Mirage, talked about how long I had been dedicated to TH, and even chatted about my favorite stylist. Mindi explained how this was a great deal for me, considering my birthday is next month. Fast forward to last Friday when I made the call to place appointments. I spoke with Erin, who it turns out is the manager. I introduced myself and informed her of the special I was redeeming. That's when I begin getting all this info that Mindi didn't present to me. That's because all the fine print was on the BACK of the pamphlet. The back side that a salesperson isn't going to directly point out while she's trying to sell something to me. That's when Erin told me on the phone the "4 separate services will be one service per week" stipulation. It's not even phrased like that on the back side. Phrased as such, "To ensure availability Mirage recommends you to book as 4 separate visits at your first visit." No mention regarding one service per week. I let that slide, that's a drop in the bucket, I proceed to lay out a date that I would like this or this done when Erin learns that I'm not "technically" a new client. Because I was a Turning Heads client, I'm not NEW to Mirage. What? That doesn't make sense, that's exactly what it means, I'm new to Mirage. That's when Erin starts getting fussy and short fused with me. I argue that I am a new client, Mindi assured me when I made the purchase and wrote the check. I question Erin at this point, "No, Mindi said I could do this, where does it say "New clients only, I'm looking at this pamphlet right now." That's when she shot back with a sneer "I'm looking at it too!" Whoa. Unnecessary. So of course this info is on the backside of this pamphlet phrased "Valid to New Clients Only. Existing Clients may be able to purchase a certificate at Mirage's discretion." So I had been a client since 2011 when their location was in Cherry Hills and that doesn't pique their discretion? They don't care? I argued that I had not been to this location since before they rebranded, argued that I felt misled by Mindi saying that it's okay for me. Erin absolutely did not care and acted venomous and unprofessional towards me over the phone. Immediately after this exchange I called Mindi who even agreed with me saying "I don't know what their problem is, you haven't been there since it was Turning Heads, I'm going to talk to them." I touched base with Mindi again 5 days later, Wednesday, and she says she's going to call Mirage back regarding this. I received a text less than 10 minutes later stating they will just issue a refund. Fine. Good enough. I'm still just flabbergasted to have been treated with such a confrontational attitude by a Manager after I've patronized this place for 7 years. Obviously my loyalty means nothing to Mirage. No wonder their best stylist moved on,...
Read moreI had my hair done on Thursday and wasn't going to write a review for this place. I had to go to a different salon on Saturday to have my hair fixed and 5 inches chopped off after growing it out for a year. And no I didn't complain when I was leaving I just simply left because I saw how the cut was and knew the color could not be fixed in the same day. If it can't be immediately fixed I don't make a fuss. When I got home my hair was falling out in clumps from the bleach being left on for far too long. This was the first time bleach had touched my hair in 6 years and I've never box dyed my hair. I've only ever had it professionally done. I pride myself in taking care of my hair and keeping it healthy. To start I arrived at my appointment 10 minutes early and then had to wait 30 minutes after my appointment time to be seen. The bottom half of my hair was fried and literally falling out. The top half was orange. I tried to convince myself it wasn't that bad. Then I realized the cut was extremely uneven and choppy. I braided it that night to go out to try to hide it and could not hide it. People noticed and asked me about it even in a french braid. Luckily I didn't have to attempt to hide it for more than 2 days before getting an appointment at another salon. Overall the experience wasn't great. It's cute and all to have a dog there but unprofessional to have a dog that puts its feet on customers while they are getting their hair washed and a dog that tries to chew on my shoes while I wait. The shop itself looks run down. The straightener that was on this girl's station looked like it had caught on fire a few times and she had two blow dryers that both looked beat up. All the stations had unorganized piles of products to the point a product was falling off this girls caddy and the dog was picking it up and chewing on it and without wiping it off or inspecting it she sprayed it in my hair after the dog had it. I'm sure this salon has potential. And everyone has bad days. But for someone who's not only new to town but also trusts reviews on places to help them find a new salon when they move for work. This place was not it and the 4.7 stars...
Read moreHad several services performed at this salon. It was a pleasing decor and friendly atmosphere. My pedicure was just ok, I can do better and cheaper at any of the off the street nail salons.
The spray on tan was disappointing. It was the first time for me. I was surprised that no one mentioned when I made the appointment not to use any lotions before the procedure but I knew this since I self-tan at home. I was not told to bend during the application except to stretch out my arms and I knew that the spray was not going to get in the creases and my fear was that when I bend over in a swimsuit, it was going to look ridiculous. My hands were not covered evenly and one almost looked like it was hardly touched. Even though the technician assured me everything the next day would be ok, I put on my swimsuit and sure enough I bent over as I would putting a towel on the beach and saw white stripes all over. I had to go back for a reapplication which never came out even.
Now the massage was another story. PJ Klingforth gave me the best massage I have ever had. Some shops will count the time it takes to undress and get on the bed as part of the 30 or 60 minutes of massage, but not PJ. I received the whole 30 minutes. The interior wait room was comfortable and relaxing. The room itself was quiet and dark, smelled wonderful, and had heated blankets. My body felt phenomenal when I left. I will definitely go...
