Food Lion — Local services in Onancock

This store is the complete opposite of it's fellow Food Lion down the road in Exmore. If I weren't wearing a mask, people would have wondered why my mouth was hanging wide open in shock.

⭐The parking lot was free of litter and shopping carts! And there wasn't a group of employees hanging outside smoking 🙌

⭐The produce was FRRRRESH, the cool alcove helps I'm sure, but EMPLOYEES make it what it is, and it shows that they KNOW what their doing, AND they take pride in it.

⭐The entire store seemed to sparkle! Was clean, stocked, shelves were fronted.

⭐And the young black man at the register not only greeted me but was friendly! We had a nice conversation about how to tell when a cantaloupe is ripe.

As a former Food Lion employee of 13 years, it was sooo nice to experience this store. You've got a new customer, it'll be worth the drive from Exmore.

I've been shopping at the Onley Food Lion for years and each year have seen it get worse. The last few trips there have made me decide to just stop going. Each time the aisles were full of boxes and you couldn't even get a cart down the aisle. This is in the middle of the afternoon. Then only self-check out is open, but there is a line backed all the way down aisles toward the back of the store. There were literally workers just standing there doing nothing at all, just staring at the line of people. On top of this, even being a member and receiving the discounts, it's still cheaper to go to Walmart. It's pretty obvious this store just doesn't give a crap about...

This is certainly a good alternative to Wal-Mart. The pricing is fairly competitive, they always seem to have good deals on the meat and Dairy. Their produce section is not incredibly large, they have some pretty nice offerings. the staff is fair and courteous and have gone out of their way in the past to help my grandmother load her groceries due to her mobility issues without question. If you have not shopped here, I would strongly suggest doing so, while you're at it and make sure to grab...
