Taqueria La Bienvenida — Restaurant in Onancock

Why is it good food is always so far away? Especially good tacos! We live in VB and just came up for the weekend but I'm telling you, the CBBT might just be worth the drive for good street tacos. The little green truck is parked near a gas station so its another excuse to pull over. Parking is super limited and fills up quick. Most people get stuff to go, but we sat in the shade and enjoyed our meal on the two available benches. Now lets talk food. Tacos, quesadillas, burritos large and small, tortas and huaraches are the main staples. Chicken, carnitas, carne asada, and more are all choices for every type of meal. And get all the trimmings! The fresh cilantro and onions enhance every taco along with the delicious salsa verde. We each got two tacos and really had a hankering to get more. Each hand made tortilla is double wrapped around the carne and just beckons to be eaten. And don't forget the drinks! Bottled Jarritos, soft drinks and best of all, the Horchata. This stuff is made fresh, spiced with cinnamon and just enough ice to cool it all down. Probably the only Taqueria open right now on the 13. So if you are 20 miles, or 70 miles away, its...

I've eaten here before and it was very good, so I went back today and I was disappointed to say the least. Before I got the carnita tacos...this time I got the shrimp tacos and they were plain and tasteless!!! No seasoning, no lettuce, no onions, no green or red sauces in the little containers on the side and the shrimp didn't even really appear to be cooked much, definitely not grilled- boiled maybe? All I can say is icky! I know the other patrons that were seated at the picnic tables food looked flavorful and good, so I don't know why they decided to skimp on my food and throw it together. This was not the flavorful food I have come to love and expect from Hispanic/Mexican food...hopefully it was just a really off...

We stopped here to grab some lunch. You should, too. The food was fantastic. We had a large barbacoa burrito, which was fresh and packed. The tortilla it was wrapped in was perfect. Carnitas taco was tasty as well. The small asada burrito was wonderful, too. We ordered churros for dessert and a chorizo taco to go. I'm looking forward to coming back....
