Regrettably, my visit to Miha Couture in Orland Park was incredibly disappointing & disheartening. Despite our anticipation for a joyful wedding gown shopping experience, we encountered appalling customer service & discrimination. From the unwelcoming atmosphere upon arrival to feeling discriminated against based on race, it was a stark contrast to previous positive experiences elsewhere. We were treated with dismissiveness & lack of interest in helping me find the right dress. At the time my Maid of Honor made appt, she asked permission to bring champagne & orange juice (Mimosa's) like the other bridal shops allowed. She was told yes but as soon as she began making drinks for everyone, she was approached by manager stating that beverages weren't allowed. There was another group of women (Caucasian) in there with beverage cups in their hands & nothing was said to them. At that moment, we were tempted to leave but a few of us had drove as far as Milwaukee, WI for appt. I was then invited into a small room of bridal dresses & immediately fell in love with the dress on the mannequin. The staff member asked my size (16,18) & questioned what I was looking for as well as my budget. None of the other bridal stores we visited asked about my budget, they were more concerned about the style I was looking for. I told her I didn't have a budget, it was all about what I wanted. She told me the dress on the mannequin was $4,200 & said nothing about increase due to plus size seeing she had my size. As I looked through dresses, NONE of them fit the style I was looking for (mermaid/trumpet) & they were all small sizes. That left me to only try on the dress I fell in love with. Unfortunately, upon TRYING, the dress was a size 8 & I clearly told staff member I was around a 16/18. WHY IN THE WORLD would she think I would be able to try on a size 8 dress is crazy! The dress would not go up past my knees. She then had me put my arms in the dress sleeves & between her & my Maid of Honor, they tried to hold the dress from the back so I could get as close to a realistic look as possible. I had questions about the sleeves & train because I was told the dresses were customizable. She couldn't answer & called the mgr. into the room to answer them who was very short, nonchalant, & acted as if she didn't have time to speak with me due to another appt. Before leaving, I was told I would have answers to my questions via email later that evening (Sunday). Never received an email with my answers until that Friday. Never received a COURTESY email letting me know anything before that. When I received email, the dress went from $4,200 to $6,400! When I questioned increase in price considering I was “taking away” from the dress & should’ve been a tad lower, I was then told it was because I was considered Plus size. I understand pricing with sizes, BUT, they knew my size BEFORE quoting me in store. Due to how we were treated, this didn’t sit well. All other stores gave me an accurate quote based on my size. The lack of professionalism & basic courtesy was distressing & marred what should've been a special moment. It's disheartening to receive such treatment, especially during a time that should be filled with excitement & happiness. This behavior is unacceptable & has no place in any establishment, especially one meant to help create cherished moments for brides-to-be. I hope upper mgm't addresses these issues promptly to ensure that no other customer experiences the same distressing treatment we encountered. Fortunately, I kept looking & found a dress at Bridal Boys by Complete Bridal in East Dundee while waiting for them to email me. NOW THEY KNOW HOW TO TREAT BRIDES-TO-BE AND THEIR GUESTS! ** UPDATE TO STORES RESPONSE - Very untrue but response expected. I won't write a Review & lie about 'my' experience. Minority owned or not, never should've been treated this way. Wasn't told about addt'l pricing until AFTER. I also removed request for bustle prior to leaving store due to weight of material. Misunderstanding regarding...
Read moreI discovered this gem while searching for a new boutique to find the latest fashions for both work and a busy social wedding season! It was run by a mother and daughter duo which was truly a remarkable story. Below are my overall thoughts about this shop:
Facility: The location is great, in the center of town. Convenient location. The boutique is gorgeous. Very glam, carefully tailored, seperate rooms that include a wedding room, an office, fur fault, etc. It was very well organized and absolutely stunning and most importantly-clean inside.
The Fashion: We live in Chicago, where it is hard to find the latest international fashion unless you go to NYC or Miami. This was the first boutique where I felt I could find this type of fashion. As a healthcare professional who wears suits daily and dresses, I was able to find stunning pieces that were colorful, high quality material that I could wear to work, be professional, but VERY fashionable at the same time. Similarly, beautiful pieces of dresses for almost any occasion from casual to wedding/gala and beyond. I ended up purchasing several work wear items and a stunning dress to attend a wedding. High quality fabric, stitching of the labels was also customized.
The Experience: The owner of the shop was with us the entire time and able to dedicate time (they do appointments to offer more personalized time, but you can still walk in which is nice). It felt like a luxury experience and they truly did listen to me. They also offered alteration services which was nice especially with a busy work schedule like mine!
The Pricing: Very, very reasonable! I found work pieces that were very affordable. Honestly, the amount I paid for a gorgeous unique work outfit was the same price (and even less) then Nordstrom. Styles like these you can't really find in luxury department stores, which is why a shop like this in the Chicagoland was a gift. The prices for the dress were also very reasonable which was honestly a treat for the designs and quality I saw.
The team is also pretty responsive when messaging them on Instagram and calling them, which is nice for quick inquiries. This is rare as many small boutiques tend to not be as responsive sometimes, but this was not the case here. I felt fully supported as a consumer.
Overall, this experience was truly wonderful. I felt a very genuine energy from the owners. The shop was stunning, the outfits and pricing was great. I was really happy I popped by this store and will definitely be making trips back to MIHA for this experience.
Thanks to the MIHA team. Im so happy with my...
Read moreI left this store crying yesterday. It was my first ever bridal appointment I had my closest friends and family drive an hour each to meet me at this dress store because it’s a middle point from where everyone lives. I wear a size 10-12 when I made the appointment they specifically ask what dress size you wear I said a 14 to be generous knowing wedding dresses run small. When I got to the store I was put in a room and shown a handful of dresses all a dress size 8!!! That is close to regular size 4-6! I tried to squeeze into 4 dresses that I couldn’t get past my knees while my whole family sat waiting for me. Finally they put me in a ball gown that I hated and tried lacing it up with tiny little string my friend had to make them go find a proper corset string to hold the dress up! Oh and it was 10 thousand dollars I told them my budget was 5! After showing my family and feeling defeated they then had to RIP the dress off of me, I wish I was lying. Then she proceeded to try and put another dress on that didn’t fit. I ended up running out of the dressing room crying and waiting for everyone out side. It’s fair to say if you are above a size 8 DO NOT GO HERE! This was the single most embarrassing moment of my life. Someone should have told me before the appointment nothing would fit. I felt terrible about myself and...
