UPDATE: Joy of Thai will close for about a month or so starting about October 27. No, they are not going out of business. The owner will travel to their native country to tend to family matters. I hope things go well with them and the family. I offered to do the cooking while they were away. She didn’t take me up on my offer. Oh well...their loss.

I had a bright idea of ordering a few items and keep them in the freezer. This should tide me over while they are away.

I hope they have a safe trip and return quickly. They are really nice people.

We had a taste for Thai food and today we decided to try someplace different.

Joy of Thai is one of three similar type restaurants nearby. Located on the south side of 179th street just east of Wolf Road. It is in a small strip mall, being one of three occupants. We pass by it all the time.

Having tried and being unsatisfied with the other restaurants we had eaten from before. This visit was out very first.

To keep things simple we ordered pork fried rice and pineapple fried rice, a vegetable dish. Both dishes were prepared fresh, were very tasty, and presented in a different style of dish whereby we could actually see what we purchased. The seasoning used reminded my of Indian food with a slight use of curry. Everything was delicious and I can’t believe I consumed the entire dish; each serving was a few hours apart of course.

Would I recommend them? Absolutely.

The carryout experience was smooth and easy. Give them a try. You...

I took my family here for a birthday celebration (9 adults) and the staff were very accommodating. They let me bring in cupcakes, candles and balloons. The restaurant is small, but peaceful and quiet, so you can actually have a conversation. No tvs lining the walls or loud music. The food was outstanding with lots of variety. Everyone raved about the food. Generous portions, very flavorful, and decently priced. The waitresses were helpful and there was not a long wait between ordering and arrival of the food. The place is clean and tastfully decorated. There is not one bad thing I have to say about this place. We had a large table in the middle of the room, which they let us know when I made the reservation, but that was not a problem at all, it was perfect! Our entire experience was one of a lovely, relaxed celebration in a warm, intimate setting. I'd return here again in...

The food was very good and the restaurant was clean it and look very nice on the interior. The only thing prices were a bit high. I am just 1 person. I had a dinner 2 appetizers. And it was close to $50.. Also, they did not take debit or credit cards. You had to pay cash, so I had to leave and go to the credit Union and be charged a fee. So I ended up spending a lot. More money than I had anticipated, so probably just for this reason. I would not come back, but the food was very, very good and the waitress was nice. I have to give them credit. If they are only going to take cash, they should have a cash station in the restaurant. The lady city sitting next to me did not have cash either. She had a call down the block to the credit Union Bank to get the cash and come back. This is very...

Super cute Thai restaurant! Have been wanting some more authentic Asian food. Seems to be a family owned restaurant! I am always on the hunt for delicious crab Rangoon. It seems their Rangoons are different than most. Has carrots and celery in it, and it’s minced. So you can barely tell. Definitely a must try! We had the pad see ew, chicken rama, and crazy noodle. All amazing! Thai iced coffee and Thai iced tea was delicious! Waitress was super friendly! The atmosphere at the restaurant is super homey and cozy. Will definitely come back to support local businesses!

The gastronomic experience at "Joy of Thai" uplifted our deflated souls on a stormy soir in late spring. Moreover, direct your gaze towards the image. In all likelihood, you find that you are muttering to yourself, "I'd eat that: it has an appealing appearance." Only a fraudulent wisp of a man would disapprove of this charming establishment.
