Drove 3.5 hours to attend a conference on Thursday and decided to see an old friend that lived near my hotel. She suggested that we go to world star nails to get pampered and catch up before my event. I arrived 5 minutes prior to her and decided to walk in to see what the wait time would be. Thankfully there was no wait, and the employee that greeted me, Maggie, said I could pick out a color while I waited for my friend. The first incident that started this awful experience was that , Maggie was hovering over me, so I politely asked her to please give me some space. She laughed and continued to stay by side asking if I decided on a color yet. Mind you, it had only been a minute maybe two since I began looking at them. Secondly, after what seemed like another minute, Maggie, tried to upsell me on an ombré polish when she saw me looking at the no chip purple polishes. I asked if that would cost extra and she laughed again as if i told her a joke. She didn’t respond immediately until I began to walk away to call my friend. She said an ombré polish would be an extra $15, but it would be worth it. I told her no and decided to try a dip manicure instead. My friend arrived shortly after and had encountered something similar with the tech that was going to do her manicure. We assumed we would be sitting side by side or close-ish to one another to talk, but this was not the case. We asked both techs to be seated by one another assuming they did not understand, but Maggie ended up moving me to the other room while my friend got her nails done by the entrance. My experience only got worse from this point on.. What really upset me was that even after I had told her twice that I was in pain from how hard she was pressing on my nails to remove my old polish, not only did she laugh , but she cracked my natural nail and it split horizontally almost all the way across. She then proceeds to tell me that my nail was already split before I even arrived and, in order to fix this, I would have to pay $3 for her to repair it!! I told her I would not be paying for this repair, nonetheless, not for something that was not my fault and happened right before my eyes. She told me in order to move forward I need to verbally confirm that if it broke in the next few days, she would not be responsible and I would be unable to come in and get it repaired for free. I said that was fine because I do not ever plan to return to this salon ever. I had her paint over it and asked if I could speak to a manager as soon as my nails dried and asking “why” and “I thought you liked the color” amongst other comments that stalled me from getting in touch with a manager.
Needless to say, I do not recommend this salon. Their employees are rude and customer service is flat...
Read moreEdit #2: Vast majority of questionable reviews here by ACCOUNTS that only review nail salons around the US & Asia, w/names like "amonia chloride" and "Sff Fsgf". REALLY??? They are ALWAYS posting to boost their ratings number. EDIT: since my 1st review, numerous 5 STAR reviews have been published by accounts that have never posted another review. HOW TO SPOT FAKE GOOGLE REVIEWS *Pay attention to the details in the review. *Look at the complexity of words. *Examine the reviewer's name and avatar. *See if the reviewer has reviewed other businesses. *Look at how frequently the reviewer leaves reviews. 1.) WOW~ Everyone, please sort/filter these reviews by NEWEST & check out ALL the 5 STAR reviews in the past few weeks, by a great variety of "unique" names on those reviews. Are they truthful reviews by real customers??? They all sound the same... 2.) My experience: The display powder dip colors do not always match what is in the powder jar. I thought the color on my existing nails would be easy to match/get close (as usual) w/all these choices, but it was not possible. I could not get a coral shade; I have orange nails now. My Nail Tech was able to give me a light touch of glitter, after initially telling me it could not be done (that my finished nails would be too thick, but she applied a coat of sparkle w/ a brush out of a bottle = that should not ever be done). Of all my powder dips thru the years, I NEVER had to dry w/ UV lights until today. I asked about that as I paid, & another Nail Tech told me I would have to request that special service to NOT use the UV light. ??? The charge of $48. (plus my additional 20% cash tip of $10.) was the most I have ever paid for a powder dip (usually $40-$45 max). NO lotion or hand massage. NO time to request that since the Tech told me to wash my hands & then she was at the register, motioning for me to come & pay. The shop is very large & nicely decorated, but I won't be back. It shouldn't be so hard to get the right color polish applied...
Read moreLiterally just walked out of the shop with my daughter, my best friend and her mom. We had planned a girls day and my best friend referred this place due to her experience. When you walk in it’s beautifully setup and welcoming. My introduction was great until I sat down for service. I made an appointment for both me daughter and myself for mani and pedi’s. I sat down with Kevin and from the beginning he seemed rushed ...He began removing the old polish from my last mani in order to complete my fill-in. When he reached the last 3 nails he decided to take a picture of my hand without permission and when asked about it he gave an excuse saying because I was new which I knew was a lie. He continued and when he was done shaping my nails he began to polish them. I was confused because when I looked around others were being told to wash their hand and also had a hand massage with lotion and a hot towel. He finished allowed my nail to dry under the gel light and instead of saying you’re done he snatched the light and put it away, pulled out his tab and told me I can pay. Sitting with residue still on my hands I told him I still needed a pedicure he says o gets up walks off and say follow me. He spoke to another lady and then she asked me to come over . That experience was fine however I spoke to the manager Andy about the matter and my experience with Kevin and all he could do was say I’ll call the owner. Moments later my friend spoke to Andy again because my daughter manicure job had bubbles and 4 fingers had missing polish . At the end they had nothing to offer for my experience and I’m not even sure if the owner is really informed. Such a beautiful place but some of the employees need more training on how to work with customers and at least some kind of incentive to have customers return after bad a experience especially since this was...
