I was told by Antec customer service to order a replacement fan "Type A" for a failed 80 x 15 in one of their power supplies, from these folks; on the web page, they list four fans, types a-d; with different mm measurements; 16, 14, 10, 7 etc. I thought the sizes odd, but the 15mm must be listed as 16mm on their site, and what do I know about "power supply replacement fan" nomenclature. Because their shipping is so high (it would be $5.99 for a $5.99 product throught the US Mail!!) I ordered two fans, to have a spare and balance out shipping. Well, I got my product, and surprise, it's a 25mm thick fan!!! I drilled down on the four fans on the page, and they are all the same fan!!!
When I called on Monday, the guy I talked to said it was my problem, and I should have known that the size they listed in the description was the size of the two pin connector instead of the fan width (which is not mentioned otherwise in the description). If you drill in, then you find the details where it says 80 x 25 for all four fans. Nowhere does it tell you the mm sizes refer to the pin connector, and not fan width.
This guy simply could care less and thought their description is self explanatory, and I should have drilled down into all the fans to read everthing posted about them, even though the description told me (along with Antec) that I had the right fan. He said I was "welcome to fill out the RMA form", but wouldn't give me a number. And when I asked for his supervisor, "Duke" said no one was there but him and he is the office manager and final boss.
When I looked at the return policy, it's a 20% restocking charge, no return shipping, and no shipping refund. Phooey, for a small product I just have to eat my $18.40 expenditure.
Do not do business with these slackers, their description may not be what you think you are buying and they could care less. Typical money grubbing attitude, you should stick to Newegg or somewhere reputable that will take...
Read moreIn my personal opinion, Performance-PCs is the worst online retailer I’ve ever dealt with.
My experience is: After payment, the order page showed no usable carrier or tracking number. I was routed to a third-party “Shop” app that displayed only vague placeholders like “arriving soon.” My order showed August 22 as the arrival date. The day came, no package. On August 23 the app changed to “shipment delayed,” still with no tracking, no accountability, and no explanation.
At this point I panicked because I was leaving the next day. When I emailed demanding a tracking number, a concrete update, and expedited delivery, they replied that they had emailed me nearly a week earlier about an “inventory discrepancy” (I never received such an email). Instead of resolving the issue, they canceled my order and issued a refund while criticizing my tone. Outcome: no parts and wasted time.
Based on my experience with this order, I found this service very poor: • No usable tracking (no carrier or tracking number on the order page). • No proactive communication about any “discrepancy.” • Weekend support is a voicemail. • Response criticized my tone instead of resolving the issue. • Cancellation first, solution never.
Context: I am in the U.S. on a very short visit and, at the time of posting, leaving in a few hours. Because of this failure, I now have to reorder from home and pay expensive international shipping for critical components.
Photos attached: screenshots showing the refunded order (US$462.78) and the zeroed out order summary. Also attached is a photo of the large shipment of water-cooling parts I received from TitanRig, Newegg, and Amazon, vendors that delivered without issue. The only missing items are the ones Performance-PCs failed to supply, which now delay my entire build.
My personal opinion: avoid at all costs. There are much better options who are reliable, professional sellers such as TitanRig,...
Read moreI have been building PC's since the 8088 days. Back then it was hard to find an all-in-one shop that carried everything I needed. Then when watercooling came along it was even harder to find products and was considered a niche market (still is for that matter). When people would see systems with watercooling gear in them they'd look at me like I was nuts. "you actually have water on the inside of your computer??" they'd ask. Back then Koolance was about the only option for watercooling kits and parts. Now, fast forward 15+ years where system building and watercooling is more mainstream and widely accepted and thankfully gaining ground every year. More and more manufacturers are bringing products to market for enthusiasts. Which leads me to the whole reason I'm leaving this review. I have made many purchases from PPCS. I have never received a damaged item and I have always received the best customer service. I think Hank gets it. He knows that it's not the one time buyers that keep your business running (although it is a big part), It's the repeat customers that are loyal to you and your brand and keep coming back because they know they are going to receive the best products and the best customer service they could ask for. Building a relationship with your customers is key to making any business a success. So, to wrap this up; I will continue to use Performance PC's for all my component needs, big or small. As long as I continue to be treated like I matter and that my business (in conjunction with many other people) is the lifeblood of PPCS, I will stay loyal and make purchase after purchase for years to come. Thanks again to all the PPCS staff for excellent customer service and to Hank for bringing the enthusiast community a place to find everything we need to build that next "show stopper"...
