One of the most gorgeous spots in the area IMHO 🌊😬 except they are currently experiencing a red tide, plus a few weeks ago there was a release of toxic water from Piney Pointe, where a phoso-gypsum stack collapsed (and water was rerouted into the bay). Still no public confirmation these two situations are a force multiplier. Park in the furthest parking lot at the northern most part of the island, grab your camera or binoculars and walk the trail for a couple of hours. There will be opportunity to photograph numerous osprey and their nests, the odd bald eagle and great horned owl. You may catch a glimpse of the odd tortoise, raccoon or even Diamondback rattlesnake. The beach is great for a swim or sun bathing and the snack bar will take care of any hunger or thirst. Don't miss out on the informative interpretive center near the park entrance. Some very good displays and observation deck
Worth the price...
