Built in the late 1930s, the Park Theater exudes a unique art deco atmosphere that transports you back in time. The current owners have done an incredible job of preserving the vintage charm while making thoughtful upgrades to enhance the overall experience.
One of the standout features of this theater is the balance between its historical roots and modern conveniences. The recent upgrades, such as the ability to pay with credit cards and buy tickets online, make the entire process seamless. Their willingness to try new things, like sensory-friendly family screenings and eco-friendly initiatives such as boxed water and compostable packaging, demonstrates their commitment to inclusivity and sustainability. It’s abundantly clear that the owners and staff genuinely care about providing their guests with a fantastic experience at every visit.
Additionally, Park Theater's social media presence is both fun and engaging. They regularly post updates about upcoming films, the history of cinema, and fun little behind-the-scenes glimpses, which keeps the community connected and excited about what's happening at the theater. Their social channels also serve as fun tools to promote community events, like the free holiday movies to collect donations for the local food shelf. The restoration videos are some of my favorites. Follow them for fun updates!
The amazing staff deserve a special mention. Everyone is so friendly and truly seems to love working there, which adds to the welcoming and vibrant atmosphere of the theater. And they are all movie buffs who love to chat about films, leading to some great impromptu discussions in the lobby after a movie. I've definitely been guilty of a Minnesota goodbye here.
Overall, this local gem is a must-visit for any movie lover. The combination of friendly staff, reasonable prices, and the perfect blend of old-world charm and modern convenience makes it a standout destination. I highly recommend paying a visit and experiencing it...
Read moreOk so this theatre is an experience. Come here if you want the home town movie experience. It's not a super high def back messaging lazy boy turbo later theatre, so don't come expecting super 70million.1 surround sound or hover seats! Staff are generally super great and the owners or bosses usually work too. They are really laid back, which might mean delaying the start of a movie so everyone can get into the movie. It annoyed me at first, but now I really appreciate this place. I believe there is only one show time a day and 3 screens. But hey closest theatre is at least an hour away. Come here with friends and family, take the time to enjoy each other and watch a movie with a...
Read moreWhile visiting my Mom in Park Rapids, we decided to take the kids to the movie. We saw The Ginch and the kids really enjoyed it. This classic historic theater was really neat to visit. The friendly gentleman behind the counter stated that they had owned the theater since the mid 80s. The interior was the classic older building architecture which I really appreciated. So many places have been gutted and remodeled, losing that historic appearance. They had 3 separate theaters, two are smaller with smaller screens, then the 3rd is larger with a much larger screen. That is the theater used for 3D movies. In conclusion, we all had a great time and hope to attend another movie...
