Our experience with Therapy Associates ABA Services was extremely disappointing. We worked with BCBA Brooke and therapist Marlene for two weeks while awaiting our son’s placement in an out-of-district (OOD) school. Initially, we were hopeful, but the way this agency handled communication and scheduling was unacceptable.
When we needed to adjust therapy times to accommodate our son’s new school schedule, we communicated this to BCBA Brooke through the group chat she created. Instead of acknowledging the message, she ignored it completely. My wife was later blindsided by a call from the agency, asking about the situation—something that could have easily been avoided had Brooke simply responded. From that point on, we felt a clear shift in attitude once they realized our son would be transitioning to school soon.
Additionally, our son has a diagnosed sleep disorder, which sometimes led to cancellations when he was too exhausted to engage in therapy. Despite this, BCBA Brooke made an insensitive comment during a session, stating that he “should not be missing therapy due to sleep because he won’t be able to miss school.” This showed a complete lack of understanding of our son’s needs. What made this even more frustrating was the fact that she herself frequently canceled supervision sessions due to headaches, stomach bugs, and other personal reasons. We were always understanding, yet that same courtesy was not extended to us.
Overall, we found this agency’s approach unprofessional and lacking in compassion. We will not be continuing services with them and cannot recommend them to families who value respectful communication and flexibility in care.
————————— Response to reply: So ghosting the family and the child who is receiving services is now called “trying to find a BCBA that can accommodate the schedule”? Seems odd to me that we never heard from Brooke again once my wife sent out that text stating about our son’s school. If this seems professional to your agency and your BCBAs then there is not much to go from. Thank you for your well wishes and I hope no other child/family goes through what we...
Read moreWe have been using Therapy Associates since out son's initial diagnosis. I have been a Special Education teacher for 20 years, so I was particularly choosy about the agency and providers that we used for our son. Therapy Associates has been wonderful. The staff helped us find the therapists that best fit our little guy's personality, needs, and schedule. The staff checks in regularly and very quick to respond when we have questions or requests. I have recommended Therapy Associates to several students' families as well as other parents that I have come across. Autism is not easy, but Therapy Associates makes the process of finding the right therapists for your child a breeze. I would use them again in a heartbeat and will continue to recommend them to any parent looking for services. Our son's BCBA and ABA are incredibly creative and very loving, we couldn't ask for...
Read moreWe love working with Therapy Associates and our three therapist for almost two years. Their assistance has made our lives so much easier. Our 1-1 AbA therapists are so dedicated and good at their job, our son who had a limited vocabulary when we started now speaks in full sentences, reads, asks questions and makes easy conversations. Overall we have seen an amazing progress in his behavior at home and at school, and now he will be transitioning to the regular Ed at his school. We are so thankful for Therapy Associates in our lives, we’ve never had a problem with our therapists, who are easily reached via phone or text, and the insurance billing process has always been a breeze. If your pediatrician has recommended ABA for your child, consider giving this agency a try, you...
