I am currently using Rim Internet. As far as I'm concerned, it's one of the better options for internet in town. I advise against using Suddenlink or Centurylink, I have seen them take advantage of customers in the past and their customer service is equivalent to that South Park episode about internet providers. That's not how it is here at Rim Internet, at least that I have seen or experienced, but I haven't used a lot of other companies. To start you put down a payment for the service and router box, then they send it off to you through mail. It's simple to set up: you open the box, attach the antennas accordingly as their spots are labeled, follow Steve's instructions and plug it in. Their internet seems to be a high quality mobile hotspot/modem router from ATT that has good ISP equivalent internet speeds and is a great or perfect option for individuals or couples. Keep in mind it's not super powerful, but one of the greatest options I have seen with this type of internet is you can virtually take it anywhere you have cell phone service. Very nice feature. Now going into families, I'd say it's a great option and even for gaming it seems to work fine, however if you have large amounts of data to use it might not be the greatest option for you. I split the internet between 4 adults and it holds up just fine, however it needs to be powered on and off every few days for a few minutes as the speeds drop. I wouldn't see these as much of a hinderance if anything at all, and the 5 stars come in from the customer service with Steve. He is helpful and insightful. If you have questions he is there to help you as soon as he finds the time. I would honestly recommend this for most...
Read moreEDIT…EDIT….EDIT ITS MONTHS LATER AND I NOW HAVE SEVERAL NEGATIVE EXPERIENCES WITH RIM INTERNET AND MIFI SERVICE. Every single month I go thru 1-3 days of internet service issues that appear to be due to mifi connect/Rim Internet not paying their bill to keep my internet service on. I have received a notice each month for the last 4 months that I owe money to AT&T. I have brought this to Rim Internets attention to he told they found a problem and have corrected it or I won’t be receiving that message any more. I left the original post here so you can see I was originally happy with the service till the end of the second month. That is when the companies were happy to take my money but not pay out their’s. Don’t be fooled!!!!
For those of you looking at internet service that is mobile, Rim internet meets most needs. Although not perfect, they do a good job, their customer service is very quick and responsive, and they meet ALL of their service claims. Everything was as described, response time was very quick from order to delivery. The ONLY issue was a speed issue, the unit did NOT deliver the speed advertised or quoted, but it was close to the lower figure and double what I had before, and it was mobile …WIN-WIN… Steve is very helpful and gives GREAT customer service. Go ahead give them a try… you...
Read moreLike many of my neighbors I had Optimum and was very unhappy with their service. Presently, they're threatening to bill me indefinitely even though I tried several times to cancel the service. They won't let me cancel and won't stop billing me, so I have to change credit cards or pay them forever.
With Optimum, my service was down on a regular basis. I do not have a Smart phone, so I rely on internet for communications with my family, and it is my LIFELINE to the world through my tablet. So, a reliable internet connection is vital to me!
Rim Internet to the rescue! My son recommended this service to me and helped me set up my new internet, with Steve helping on the other end of the phone. Steve has been GREAT, very personable and helpful. And my new connection is a marvel! Since switching to Rim Internet I'm always connected to the internet, even on my back porch and in the backyard. I couldn't be happier! For me, this is a life changing event and a miraculous one as I was at my wit's end with my previous carrier: unethical, unreliable, unhelpful. The contrast with Rim Internet and Steve couldn't be more dramatic....
