Just had a very unacceptable experience at this theatre (NCG Fischer Crossing, Sharpsburg)! Me and my two sons walked in and bought tickets to see Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Road Chip. The cashier could have noticed that I was paying for myself and my 6 and 11 year-old sons and mentioned that this movie was almost sold out and that we may not all be able to sit together. No, she just sold us the tickets! We proceeded on and prepared our popcorn and drinks and walked into the showing. Upon entering, we (and a couple of other families that walked in behind us) noticed that there was nowhere for us to sit. The only empty seats available were being taken up by people’s jackets and popcorn! So, we decided to go to the very back and plop down on the top aisle floor to watch the movie. We were soon told by an employee that we could not sit there because it was a fire hazard. I said “I understand that and we will be glad to move when you find us a seat.” We immediately headed down the stairs and were told that we would have to be issued a refund. During the refund process we were never given the option to speak to a manager. So, while I’m waiting for 5 minutes for them to refund the money back to my credit card, I’m thinking to myself: “my kids are probably going to get upset because they are possibly going to take their popcorn and coke back from them”. Then, I thought, “No, I’m sure as a Gesture of Good Faith they will offer us 3 free tickets or at least let my children keep their refreshments because the theatre will just have to trash them anyway.” But, no…that’s not what happened. After we were escorted out of the sold-out show that we were sold tickets to, they refunded me and took my children’s popcorn and coke from them. I was in total shock! I’m waiting on a call from the NCG corporate office right now because after I left the theatre I called back to speak with the manager and soon realized that he didn’t particularly care about the horrible experience we had at...
Read moreExperiences in past years have been good, and NCG is making improvements to their concessions area and largest screen, turning it into an IMAX.
But unfortunately, NCG has decided that the sound isn't important when watching a movie.
Just went to see Revenge of the Sith re-release, and the audio levels were so low you could barely hear the movie. Specifically, the center channel and sub channels seem like they are non-existent, the soundtrack had no impact, and voices lacked any depth. Moments on screen felt disconnected from what came through the speakers. Having seen the movie at home and during the original theatrical release, I know what it sounds like, and this was simply a terrible presentation of the movie. It was a totally different movie.
While I wish I hadn't spent money to see the movie at NCG, that's not what bothers me - it's that my son and I were excited to see this movie back in theaters and took time to hang out and really experience the movie in a way that you only can in a theater...our experience at NCG was a terrible disappointment.
Note: This is not the only movie I've seen that has had this audio level issue. The other times when I took the kids to watch Sonic, Mario, and Paw Patrol. I understand wanting to keep sound at a safe level, but people go to the movies to have an immersive experience, not listen to barely perceptible dialogue and a poor excuse for a theatrical sound system.
I can't recommend NCG until they fix this issue with all of...
Read moreThis is the first time we bought three tickets for the sensory friendly performance (11:00) (07/16/22) as my 8 year old son has non-verbal autism and we thought it was the best performance to make him feel good watching a movie but it was the most traumatizing experience he has ever had and we will never go back again since my son had a crisis when the movie started as the lights were turned off, the volume was too high and this caused him to panic. nothing of what was said in the announcement for this movie showing was done. my son wouldn't stop crying and he wanted to run out of the movie theater which we had to do in less than 5 minutes of arriving, we had to calm him down as it was terrible for him. It is not possible that if you say in the advertisement that it is a movie showing for children with sensory problems, you do not do what you say and not only have we lost time, money, but you have caused a great trauma in our son who does not want to go back to any movie theater to see a movie. For my part, I will not recommend any of my friends who have children with special needs to attend a movie showing in this place. because remember that not all children with special needs have the same behavior in tolerating loud sounds or lights or closed places. you must be considerate and comply with what you indicate. otherwise do not offer this type of...
