Tiger J Kim's Taekwondo is hands down the best martial arts school. Having tried out various martial arts and different taekwondo schools, my entire family has benefited from Master J Kim's instruction and leadership in multiple ways.

Initially, what I liked about the school was the structure. The curriculum is set (and follows the World Taekwondo Federation). Children and adults know what to expect in terms of what they will be learning and what they will be expected to be able to do. My children always look forward to the next belt and learning new kicks/breaks. Because the curriculum followed adheres to the international standards, your belts will be recognized anywhere you go.

As taekwondo is a martial art, safety was very important to me as a parent. Master J Kim is very concerned with the safety of his students. From the first classes, the students are taught to concentrate. Their learn to control their bodies and minds, so there are no unruly students. Master J Kim keeps an eagle eye on his students. The sparring classes are very well monitored and the kids are taught to make light contact and to respect their partners.

The respect taught at the school was another import issue. The children are taught to respect the school, instructors, and sport. Master J Kim also reinforces the fact that they need to extend this respect to their fellow students, their parents, siblings, and teachers. I noticed that, after only doing taekwondo for a short amount of time, my children were more respectful at home and school.

Master J Kim is one of the few, unique teachers who are able to motivate their students to their full potential. He is passionate about the sport of taekwondo. He is able to teach to many different levels and abilities and will alter his teaching techniques to fit his students. My entire family has nothing but positive experiences working with Master J Kim. As an adult, I got in shape, increasing my flexibility and strengh, and learned to love the sport. Although we work incredibly hard, the classes are fun. Master J Kim does the workout along with the students. This is great motivation (even though there is no way that I was ever able to come close to doing what he is able to do)!

My children adore Master J Kim. He is great with children of all ages.They look at Master J Kim as a role model and, especially after he demonstrates what he can do, they have a serious case of hero worship.

This review is for Tiger J Kim's World Class TaeKwonDo in Pearland, TX. The business is located in a small strip mall on the south side of Broadway. Also located in the strip mall is a doughnut shop and a pizza shop. There is adequate parking in the strip mall.

Upon entering the business, you'll find a small office to the left and a row of benches along the right-hand wall. The benches serve as seating for visitors and parents who wish to watch their friends or children during classes. The dojang is of adequate size.

When I first entered the business, I was immediately greeted by Master J.Kim and escorted into the office. Master J. Kim explained the $10 trial period. For $10, you can attend as many classes over a two week period as you wish. This allows ample time to determine whether you would benefit from their program. After leaving the office, I was greeted by Master Park who fitted me with the white belt. I went ahead with the $10 trial period and attended 4 classes over the next week.

During the trial period, I was given plenty of individual attention by the instructors and was treated as though I was a "paying" member of the classes. I attended the adult classes and found the other students to be friendly, helpful, and encouraging. Needless to say, the experience was good for me. After one week, I decided to join their program.

The program is well defined with attainable goals. You will receive a good workout during each class and the instructors do a nice job of mixing things up. You will not be bored. For me, the advantage of attending this program, and taking Taekwondo classes in general, is the all around workout that you will receive. As a friend of mine would say, the classes don't get easier but you get stronger - quickly. I also like that you will be challenged mentally by learning to speak Korean. Master J Kim is one of those rare individuals who is truly exceptional at living and teaching Tae Kwon Do. His mastery of the art is impeccable and his skill at imparting it to others is remarkably effective.

I have had the privilege of being trained by many outstanding leaders in the military, in athletics and in other categories of life. I have also had the opportunity to have been under the supervision of other not-so-good trainers. These situations have allowed me to develop a deep appreciation for things done well. To me, there is nothing more satisfying as a willing student than to have a teacher who is truly a master of their art or craft. It provides the greatest opportunity for the student to gain the knowledge and skill they seek and makes the journey worth the effort.

Before making the decision to become Master J Kim's student, I studied his teaching and leadership style for months while my son and wife were taking classes. His encouraging style of instruction inspires the student to the next level, regardless of age or ability. I have watched him work with people that seemed "out of place" in the class until they were confident and capable of advancing. And with those who have tremendous natural ability, he knows how to challenge and train them to reach their maximum potential.

Not only is he a Master in Tae Kwon Do, he is also a master at bringing out the very best in people and encouraging them to believe in themselves.
