Today, my appt at D&MSI in Peoria was very upsetting and disappointing. I arrived 10 minutes early as requested for my 245pm appt. It was clear very soon that they were busy and running behind. I'm a very patient and understanding person. I waited, but I became more impatient as not 1 or 2 but 3 people who arrived after me were called back. It was now 3:50pm. I went to the window and asked if I needed to reschedule. The clerk whispered to the med tech that "so and so helped me check-in patients earlier." Clearly, there was an error in my check-in. I was told I would be called next. No apology. No explanation. No accountability. NOTHING. Again, if there was an error, I'm understanding, just OWN IT!!! I was called back a few minutes later, and the male med tech began apologizing to a patient whose appt was 15 minutes after mine. I then responded, "I've been waiting for 90 minutes" --- as in clearly I've been waiting longer and was hoping to receive some acknowledgment. To my shock, the med tech motioned me with both hands (as I might to a dog or child) and with sass said "Let's go." I couldn't believe he spoke to me in that manner. I told him I would reschedule, and he continued to lead me to the room to which I did not follow and was talking back to me--something about "90 minutes" but I couldn't hear him as I had turned to leave. I told the lady at the window I didn't want to reschedule. I cannot believe the way I was treated today. I work in healthcare, and there is no way I would ever talk to a patient this way. No apology. No accountability. No explanation. No matter how good Dr. McKenna is, I cannot imagine returning...
Read moreSo new patient today. I saw Stephanie McWhirter, she was good. She gave me a cancer check and a few prescriptions so that was good. Here is what I dont get about this office, especially after reading these reviews....why dont they simply fix what is wrong with their office, it is so easy. So here was my complaint...I got there 15 minutes early, filled out paperwork but then waited to see someone 45 minutes. Thats not ok anymore, or it may be ok now but how about the receptionist tell the patients about the wait in advance, or do SOMETHING...ANYTHING....to deal with the obvious lobby problem they have in their reviews and that I experienced today. The other thing was the Dr's assistant was sweet but ill-equipped for her job. When she and the doctor walked out they left me standing in the room. I waited like 10 minutes then stuck my head out and asked if someone was coming back or do I wait for my prescriptions etc and the assistant said, "no, you can go". Weird. The problem here is training and they need an office manager. Quit thinking of the patient as a number and start moving the patient along with the mission of engaging the patient so that they have a better experience. I wont come back here. I liked the Dr. though, but come on, it's dermatology not my family...
Read moreI saw Megan Glenn PA-C on Thursday 10-21, she was very knowledgeable & helpful. The young nurse who took all my information was sincere and thorough as well. Megan prescribed a steroid shot & a topical cream and wants to see me in 3-4weeks . Another young nurse came in to administer the shot. She asked if I had an arm preference and I said yes. I had a mastectomy on my left side so everything has to be done on my right arm. She went to my left arm & I said excuse me, my other right ! I left with no paperwork so have no idea what shot I received. Told the receptionist I was to see Megan in 3-4 weeks, she gave me the date of 12-9. After not getting any notifications from Walgreens that my prescription was ready I called them and they said they had no order. I then called the office the next day and after waiting on hold for quite a while talk to someone and they said they would get it called in . I picked it up on Saturday. I realized my follow up appointment is 7 weeks, not 3-4 , so this morning (Monday) I called to ask if it can be moved up & what shot I received. Was on hold for 25 minutes & finally left my call back number. Have not been...
