Townsend IGA Supermarket — Local services in Pigeon Forge

Decent place, technically the only grocery there. Ok selection of food, prices are almost twice as i would pay at home for most items. But still cheaper then trying to eat out with 9 people. Poor customer service. I literally just left there 30 minutes ago. I went in to get food before headed back to cades cove, celebrating our 14th anniversary with my parents and kids, and was in line to check out. I saw the deli and while my mother was checking out in line, i went to walk over to see meal deal ideas for this week. i slipped and fell at the check out line and "cooler" right there at the line. i fell hit my knee, elbow, and landed in my back hard. a guy comes over, "oh, i guess someone moved my mop." an older gentleman and my mother helped me up. i get in line, the older guy told the cashier lady about it. all she said was, I'm just a cashier, nothing i can do about it. no one apologized or offered to help me.

Update as we are still here until end of week... I had to go back in today for more groceries as we only have a mini fridge in our room. The store manager was there. This is a fine location, but do not expect friendly service. We did have a decent cashier that was friendly. She did mention she was new. However, as exiting (it was close to closing time) the doors were locked. My dad and I stared at the employees and because no one said anything about exiting, we then very slowly unlocked the doors. We made it through 2 doors before a different young worker with a ponytail snarkly said "You know there's another exit, right?" This was so disrespectful considering that no one directed us to the "correct" exit. It was such an unnecessary comment to make as the only way of conversing with customers. I hope this girl gets customer service training. This was at about 8:50 on 6/16/23. I wish I would have got her name. Terrible grocery store experience. Store was very crammed and not well laid out. Steak options super limited and the ones we got ended up being very low quality and gristly. Had wine and beer but both were limited selections. Bought a pack of hamburger buns, got them back to our condo to find that all were COVERED in mold. Worst of all was the woman waiting on us at the check out. She would pick up an item, look at it for a second or two, then scan it. We stood there forever waiting to get out of the store.
