Dollar General — Local services in Pigeon Forge

Same as hundreds of other Dollar General stores with a few exceptions: 1) the HATEFUL, unknowledgeable, untrained staff can always be counted on to NOT help you in any way, to make sure you know that you are bugging them by shopping there, & could not care less if you shopped there or not. 2) The store is ALWAYS in a state of disarray, unkempt, & shelves are poorly stocked despite the aisles being filled with stock to put out. 3) Calling the store is useless - I needed a small item to complete my nephew's bday gift so I called to ask what colors they had of this item. "We don't sell those." Was the immediate reply, then they just hung up the phone. I live about 1000 yards from the store, knew they sold what I was looking for, so I went to see for myself. Sure enough, there sits the item I was told they don't sell & in 3 colors. When I notified the "Manager" about the call I was told "The girl you talked to was getting off work in 15 minutes so she didn't have time to check, we're not allowed to get overtime." Of all the employees there the short lady in her 40's with the gapped teeth (who you will usually see outside smoking or doing whatever it is she does (drinking vodka) in her gray Jeep Renegade. There are very few places to shop in Townsend & this is the ONLY place that sells items like you might find in Target or Walmart so they have a lot of customers. My hopes are that the corporate offices see this honest review & will take action - they will double their income & the community will be...

I have recently had 2 experiences with this store, neither have been good. The employees there posted a rude remark about all of the jeeps in town during a March event. To my understanding the event was aimed at getting visitors to spread their spending to other shop owners as well as getting them introduced to shops that may not be well known. Most shop owners were nice and welcoming but the DG was right the opposite they complained about increased business " making them work" I kinda thought thats why they were getting paid. But wait theres more. I was there when another jeep event was taking place and a local shop owner sent an employee there to get a ream of paper. Upon arrival all 3 employees were outside smoking and the one who just had to break from her break and went to assist said customer. After the rude comment of telling her that she would have to find her product somewhere else. I over heard her comment to her fellow employees as she returned to her smoke break that they had what she was asking for but didn't feel like getting it and that girl looked too prissy anyway. I just left the Dollar General in Townsend and the workers were telling ppl they closed in 2 mins and it was 9:48pm which would mean they close at 9:50pm. The sign on the front door says they close at 10:00pm. I know that's only 10mins but 10mins is 10mins and if you think a place closes at a certain time because it says so on the front door and even says it here on google which a lot of ppl go by. On top of them saying they close 10mins before they really do as I was walking out. A woman and her little girl who was only about 6 or 7 years old were trying to go in the store just to use the restroom and a employee stopped them at the door and told them they were closed and it was 9:51pm at that time and all the little girl needed was to use the bathroom. Everything in Townsend closes down by 9 and the dollar store is supposed to be open until10 even if it said they closed at 9:50pm on the door they should've let the little girl use the restroom that's just sorry in my opinion.
