We are now retired in the area, so we are "locals", but only if the generational families will accept us. My wife and I are both U.S. Military Veterans and have wined and dined in MA and PA places to some of the most self proclaimed exquisite restaurants. We have found that some of the MA and PA joints have been better and less expensive than some of the hullabaloo restaurants out in restaurant land.
My wife and I actually like the PSS because of their great craft beer, ale and wine selections and the customer service is great. We have enjoyed many dishes from their craft kitchen, every food item we have tried we have enjoyed, EXCEPT, when we finally got a chance to try the street tacos and margaritas from the Taco Bar. We ordered one beef taco and margarita each, for $27. My wife and I threw away one and half tacos, likewise on the margaritas. The meat was tough and had too much gristle and very blend. The tortillas were served right out the package, not even halfway heated. Some people with digestive issues get stomach pains if they eat uncooked flour dough. The margaritas were way too sweet to the point of making us nauseous. Taco bar needs to improve. 5 Stars for original craft brewery and Kitchen, 1 Star for Taco Bar, average between the two areas, 3 Stars.
We got a message that the "TACO BAR" was going to be open in April 2023 and it was going to be "IMPROVED" so we visited 4/07/2023 at 4:30 pm. We went all out because wanted to experience the full change of their menu as much as we could. My wife and I ordered 3 tacos each, my wife ordered chicken, beef and pork, I ordered 2 pork and 1 beef, and 2 top shelf margaritas. Maybe it was because the margaritas were top shelf, the taste had vastly improved from the last time, but still on the sweet side for us, but hell of a lot better to the pellet. My wife said the all her tacos were tasty, but the pork was her favorite. I agree the porky tacos were tasty, I don't know about the beef, because my order was not served as I ordered it, I never got the beef taco. Some of you might say why didn't you get you taste your wife's beef taco? Well, all I can say is a real review, is about how a consumer is served at a restaurant or eatery, not what was was served to another person, my wife is an individual and so am I. In this reviewer's opinion, I think $55.44 is pretty steep, for not getting my order right. We will probably keep going back to their BREWERY AND CRAFT KITCHEN, but for $55, I think they should have gotten my order right. The readers of this review will have other opinions, this...

Been here over a dozen times in the last year...
Great place to gather with a large group of friends (or visiting guests) The venue is awesome, loud inside, quiet outside Decent beer selection (I'm not big into sours and gose - but they have those - and they always have great IPAs)
In my original review, I mentioned that folks behind the counter the last time I visited were kind of aloof. But to be fair, that hasn't been my overall experience. Most of the time they're cool. Just know that this place is popular and if you go on a weekend you're gonna get the kind of service that a crazy popular venue can give, within reason... I mean, it's popular folks!
Also, in my original review, I mentioned that this place is more of a corporate investor type of venue. While that's not accurate per se in the sense that Oldham Hospitality is not a corporation, they definitely are restaurant group, and they definitely have invested a bit in either transforming or creating more than a few of the newest (or more recent) dining and lodging venues in Townsend. To the locals, that doesn't always sit right. BUT, you really can't argue with the results - just about everything they touch is fantastic overall, and in the case of Apple Valley and SMOC is 1000 times better...
Read moreMy husband and I ate at Peaceful Side Social in May of 2022, we were in the area for an event and were happy to see that Towsend had grown enough to have some new food offerings. The building is new with a modern spacious feel and there is quite a bit of seating both inside and out.
We had heard good feedback on the food and the menu was big enough to offer various flavors to fit your palate and there is a complete beer menu with multiple styles to match your mood. They also have a taco and tequila bar if that is your thing.
We are diabetic and eat a Keto diet and there was one chicken and one salmon offering and a light Lager beer that fit our needs. We started out with a small splurge and had the Goat Cheese and Grit fritters, while tasty it was basically corn and grits with no taste of goat cheese but they did have a tasty dipping sauce. Next we both ordered the Half Chicken with Alabama White Sauce and chose the Grilled Zuchini side. WOW! The chicken had a wonderful herb crust and was perfectly cooked and juicy! I am glad we asked for an extra side of Alabama white sauce because the little drizzle that was on the chicken was not noticeable. The zucchini had a nice char and good flavor and we were pleased with the serving sizes.
We would definitely recommend this establishment and would eat here again but would like to see more low...
