The first time I went to the CHCSEK in Pittsburg was in 2015. I hadn't even met the nurse practitioner, Lynette Sanders, but apparently she read my chart. She didn't even say hello or introduce herself she just said very snotty like "I don't prescribe hydrocodone for fibromyalgia" I told her that I don't want hydrocodone,as a former Alcohol and Drug counselor I know how easy it is to get addicted to them and I don't want to have anything to do with them. I felt like I was being treated like a drug addict and was seeking drugs. She didn't know how to respond to that. I think they just automatically think you are a after controlled substances if you are low income. She is no longer there so i thought i would give it another try this year. I have already had to take two urine tests and every time I need my prescriptions refilled it's a battle to get anything done. I was a little late in refilling my medicine and told them I just simply didn't have the funds to pay for them. They decided that since I was late refilling them I didn't need the usual doseage so I told them I had been borrowing from a family member so therefore I do need my usual doseage. They told me that they couldn't give me the regular amount anymore and that I would have to go to the pain management clinic, which would cost me even more money I don't have and I would have to take yet another drug test before I could get a lesser amount of my medicine prescribed. I have anxiety as well and every month my anxiety goes through the roof when it's time to deal with CHCSEK. It's just not worth the stress to have to deal with that nonsense every month. This is the worst clinic I have ever been to and believe me I have been to a lot over the past 40 years. I would not recommend this place to anyone ever. UPDATE 1/28/20:. I have been seeing Amanda Stice at the Ft. Scott office for almost a year now and am very happy I found her. She is very knowledgeable and you can tell she cares about her patients. I'm glad I continued with CHCSEKS and am getting good quality care now. I am changing my rating but only for how things are going with my care now and...
Read moreI used to think this place was good and it was up until my last 2 appointments. I do not know why they have changed but they have changed for the worse. Much worse. Do not go to this clinic because they will over charge you just to be seen by the correct person. I was scheduled myself to get something checked out and when I went in the first thing they said was "I don't treat that, I don't know why they scheduled you with me, I will refer you to the correct person". Which I was kind of fine with since she was trying to help but the clinic messed up and made me wait for weeks to have that appointment and then a month to get into the correct person which is ridiculous. When I finally saw the person they just told me my options and gave me the card to someone who could do something to help me if I chose it. Which is also ridiculous because what they told me I already knew and I could of found out whatever little else over a freaking phone call. And after finally getting this done I got slapped with a bill from my first appointment which lasted 5 minutes and they did nothing for me but a "referral" to the correct person to "treat" me. It was over 100 dollars and when I asked why I was even being charged for this they said because she offered her referral. Which means I would of not even been seen by anyone without that referral which is messed up to begin with. So I have to now pay over 100 dollars because otherwise no one would of even seen me for my issue. So do not go here they will steal all the money they can...
Read moreMy story is a little long, but I really want to give Community Health the props they deserve. I really thought I was a lost cause and my life was going to be a never-ending cycle of suffering.
I’ve had life-altering mental health problems for a decade now. My primary care physician at the time only took it seriously when I had a nervous breakdown and couldn’t take it anymore. That was after several years of trying to get help and being brushed off.
In 2020, my depression became so bad that I no longer had anxiety. I considered driving my car into a tree every day. Eventually I took an online mental health screening at my husband’s insistence, which convinced me to seek a specialist’s help. I reached out to a few clinics around the Four State area and chose CHC. I saw Kayla, a psych NP, and one of their counselors, Charissa. Kayla believed what I told her from the beginning and I got diagnoses that thoroughly explained what I was experiencing, along with proper medication. Charissa helped me heal a lot of inner turmoil in therapy, which lets me live a much more relaxed, happy life. A year of therapy and good medicine has truly given me my life back. I didn’t think it was possible for me to feel some semblance of normalcy, but these ladies made it happen.
Let me tell you, there is no shame in getting help if you have mental illness! Community Health has been nothing but great in...
