I cannot say enough about this shop and everyone who works there. We found their event space, Storyville Lounge, while looking for wedding venues for a small, intimate wedding. Amanda and Jesse were nothing short of amazing with helping me get every question answered and making the venue into what I envisioned for the wedding.
We saw the venue a few weeks before the wedding itself when my sister and I dropped in for a visit. When we went, we were truly in awe of the amount of work that went into making both the shop and the speakeasy type venue so breathtaking. Everything had a place and the maximalist decor was top notch. The absolute perfect backdrop for what we envisioned for our wedding! Cath showed us around the first day and gave us a tour even though they were setting up for an event and gave us the history of the store as well as Dr Tumblety. She was amazing and so personable and made us feel right at home.
The wedding itself was everything I could have imagined. We were able to get ready and set everything up early, which the event workers (who were also the nicest, most patient people) helped out with. The bartender, Brittany, was so wonderful and worked so hard.. and no one was left without a drink! We were able to use the music we envisioned and honestly everything is decorated so beautifully that we barely had to get anything extra for decor.
We were also able to add a tarot card reader for the event.. and Adele was amazing. She read for so many guests and we are so thankful for the hard work she put into the night. She was one of the best parts of the whole day. She can be followed @haginthehedge.
I never thought my wedding day could go off without a hitch, but I'm so thankful for everyone here that put in so much work to make it happen. If you're looking for a small, intimate wedding venue, you can't go wrong with the...
Read moreMust see in Pittsburgh! Not only did Dr. Tumblety's breath new life on Warrington Ave, but added the most unique flavor! If you love cool, original finds, this is the place for you. From vintage clothes, to one-of-a-kind jewelry every inch of this store will impress you. Can put down books, candles, sage, cards! The people there are so nice, and excited about their creation. They are eager to show you the lay out, give you a chat about how they came to be, and (my favor) tell you about their plans to grow right here in the heart of Pittsburgh. Not only is the store so completely cool, the owners care about the community and building the town up to how it was before. They participate in local events (check out the Night Market!!) and are even involved with local charities, such as the CatCalls Rescue (also local). They hold fundraising events, tarot readings, burlesque shows. Just about any unique way to have a fun night out and fundraise for a good cause. Their medium, Adele Holmes is a must-see! I know she is in high demand and I understand why. If she is there DO NOT leave without trying to get in with her. She is the most in-tune, spiritual, down-to-earth, genuine reader. She is soft and welcoming, perfect for first-timers. And very on-point for the more experienced spirit-seekers. If you are in there area, go check them out. And if you aren't take a trip, there is nothing about this venue that...
Read moreLovely little spot in Pittsburgh’s mt Oliver neighborhood! My barbershop is right next door so we decided to take a peek inside and we were not disappointed.
The story is interesting (although I do not love that they are honoring a man’s name who killed women), the idea is fun! Speak easy vibes with lots of back spaces for rent (parities/events/etc). I love that you can shop for vintage, see shows, or have a drink.
Cathy was phenomenal and very welcoming. We couldn’t have picked a better day to stop in! Thank you for your hospitality!
The shop is carefully curated with tons of unique finds. They are a curated shop so you will not find “cheap” items here! We did not stumble upon any “vintage” finds under the $40 mark! It’s a curated vintage shop not a thrift store!
After leaving, I found that it was more interesting to stop in and see the place than it was to actually shop. At worst, you’ll get a cool story and get to the feel you are back in the early 1900s!
Recommend stopping in,...
