PLEASE DO YOUR HOMEWORK. I rarely write reviews but feel if my review can help one person I should document our interaction. My husband brought a heavy broken 14kt gold watch to sell for scrap. It weighed 70 grams. Full melt was $4268. We expected minimum in the Berkshires, a 50% of scrap offer. FYI most reputable gold scrappers pay approx 70-80%. We were offered $1300. We questioned why the offer was so low and were told "we buy in pennyweights." We are not naive. The unit of measure has no bearing on the price of paid for the item. We also had a previous poor interaction when I sold them some rings, and they deducted weight for the stones in price paid. A few months later I went to buy a gift for my mother, and found a ring I know she'd like. I asked the price, $10 a gram. I asked if the weight of stones was removed, NOPE. I asked again how that was fair, when they don't pay for the stones, and then sell them. They didn't have an answer. We will never be back. They are not...
Read moreI used to be a loyal customer of Berkshire Hills Coins & Estate Jewelry and trusted them completely. For years, Peter was always fair, honest, and offered competitive prices for both buying and selling. Unfortunately, after my most recent visit, I’ll no longer be returning.
I went in expecting the usual great service and prices, but I was absolutely shocked at what I was offered. The buyback prices were half of what I had seen suggested online for the same items, and even the price for regular gold was a fraction of what it should have been—about a quarter of the fair market value.
After this experience, I decided to check out another local place, and to my surprise, they offered me more than double what Berkshire Hills did for the same pieces. I couldn't believe the difference.
It’s a real shame because I used to trust them so much. But now, I’ll be taking my business elsewhere from here on out. If you’re looking for fair pricing and honest transactions, I recommend you...
Read moreThis review is SO overdue. My family has been coming to Berkshire Hills Coins and Estate Jewelry my entire life. I have been in here countless times and have always had the most amazing, friendly, and helpful service either by Peter or one of his associates. What I love most about this shop is that the owner, Peter, is fair and honest. I actually sold him a bunch of rare gold coins a few years back to help pay for books and college tuition when I was going to school in Boston. My family (myself included) has also bought beautiful and unique estate jewelry from here. If you're in the area visiting or a resident of The Berkshires looking for antiques, coins, or estate jewelry, I highly...
